Speculation continues to grow that presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a former Democrat who is running as an Independent, may be about to announce that he is dropping out of the race and endorsing Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump.

On Tuesday, Kennedy’s running mate, Nicole Shanahan, revealed in a podcast interview that they were considering the option of dropping out and endorsing Trump.

Around noon on Wednesday, Kennedy’s campaign announced, “Independent Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will address the nation live on Friday about the present historical moment and his path forward.”

Trump is scheduled to hold a rally in Glendale, Arizona on Friday.

Trump was asked by CNN reporter on Tuesday whether he would consider Kennedy for a role in his administration, if Kennedy endorses him.

ABC News reporter Will McDuffie announced in a social media post Wednesday afternoon, “NEW: RFK Jr. is planning to drop out of the race by the end of this week, sources familiar tell @ABC. Sources say he is leaning toward endorsing Donald Trump but caution the decision is not yet finalized and could still change.”

“Campaign manager Amaryllis Fox emailed senior staff this morning thanking them for their hard work, but indicated a decision on the way forward had not been made, a source familiar with the email told ABC,” McDuffie added.

ABC’s Jonathan Karl then reported:

Just spoke to RFK Jr and asked him about endorsing Donald Trump.

“I will not confirm or deny that,” he said. “We are not talking about any of that.”

Then he said this about the DNCC: “It’s not democracy. Nobody voted. Who chose Kamala? It wasn’t voters.”
