Twenty-four hours after a deranged lunatic opened fire on a Catholic church in Minneapolis, hospital officials have provided an update on the injured victims.

The shooter fired through the stained glass windows of the Annunciation Catholic Church during a celebratory back-to-school Mass filled with hundreds of K-8 students and their teachers early Wednesday morning. Two children, ages 8 and 10, were killed, and another 14 children and 3 adults were wounded. The gunman then took his own life in the parking lot.

From NBC News: At a news conference this morning, the interim CEO of Hennepin Healthcare, Thomas Klemond, said the hospital was currently treating nine patients injured in the school shooting. Of those, six — including five children — are in satisfactory condition.

Two people, one adult and one child, are in serious condition, and another child is in critical condition.

EMS Chief Marty Scherer said one child received a “shotgun blast to his back” while covering and protecting a fellow student.

Children’s Minnesota Hospital said three children remain in its care as of this morning. Four have been discharged, the hospital said in a press release.

Children’s Minnesota hospital released the following statement in a Facebook post: “There are no words to describe the overwhelming pain many are feeling after Wednesday’s shooting at Annunciation Church and School. We feel that pain with you. To the entire Annunciation community, you have our deepest condolences. During this time of unimaginable grief and loss, we want you to know that we at Children’s Minnesota are with you. We will always be here to care for you. And in this moment, we hurt alongside you.”
