From KCENTV.com: The identity of the man responsible for crashing into the Killeen Mall during a police chase and running over multiple people was made public on Sunday.

John Darrel Schultz, 53, of Kempner, Texas, has a criminal history dating back to 2022. According to a Texas court record, Schultz was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Williamson County on Oct. 25, 2022.

He was sentenced to four days in Williamson County Jail on May 30, 2023, according to court records.

On Saturday, Schultz was driving a black truck near the intersection of I-35 and I-14 in Belton. He refused to stop and eventually exited I-14 and drove into the Killeen parking lot and through the front doors of the JC Penney, according to Texas DPS.

Schultz reportedly ran over multiple people when he crashed through the store. Police ran after him, and were assisted by at least two off-duty officers who were shopping with their families in the mall.

Schultz was shot and killed by police at the scene.

Five people were injured, ranging in age from 6 years old to 75 years old.

According to a local ABC News station, KXXV, three of the victims were all from the same family: two women and a 6-year-old girl. The report states:

Jacqueline suffered a hip fracture and broken ankle, Lesyalie suffered multiple facial fractures and a pelvic separation, and remains in the ICU awaiting multiple surgeries and a long road of rehabilitation.

The six-year-old has a broken collar bone, broken ribs, ankles, and internal bruising.
