From Fox News: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the death of Fuad Shukr, the Hezbollah commander who was behind a drone strike that killed 12 children and teens over the weekend.

Shukr, who was also known as Hajj Mohsin, joined Hezbollah in 1985. He was also sought by the U.S. government over his connection to the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing, which targeted U.S. Marines.

Shukr served as a senior adviser to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah at the time of his death. He died in an IDF strike on Tuesday in southern Beirut, Lebanon.

The Hezbollah terror group has still not confirmed that Shukr was killed in the strike.

In a press release posted on social media, the IDF announced:

ELIMINATED: Fuad Shukr “Sayyid Muhsan”, Hezbollah’s Most Senior Military Commander and Hassan Nasrallah’s Right-Hand Man.

Shukr has directed Hezbollah’s attacks on the State of Israel since October 8th, and he was the commander responsible for the murder of the 12 children in Majdal Shams in northern Israel on Saturday evening, as well as the killing of numerous Israelis and foreign nationals over the years.

He was also responsible for the majority of Hezbollah’s most advanced weaponry, including precise-guided missiles, cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, long-range rockets and UAVs.

In a video report, the IDF announced that Shukr was responsible for masterminding, planing and executing every Hezbollah attack over the past 30 years. He was involved in numerous terror attacks, including the U.S. Marine Corp barracks bombing in Lebonon in 1983 that killed 241 American troops. The U.S. had an $5 million bounty on his head over that bombing.

Former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) reacted to the news, writing, “Fuad Shukr is now dead and the world is better off for it. Israel delivered justice today, not just for 12 children who were brutally murdered in Israel, but also for the families of 241 U.S. service personnel killed in the 1983 Beirut bombing of a Marine Corps barracks.”

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant released the following statement:

Tonight, the IDF conducted a precise and professional operation to eliminate Hezbollah’s most senior military commander. Fuad Shukr ‘Sayyid’ Muhsan has the blood of many Israelis on his hands. Tonight, we have shown that the blood of our people has a price, and that there is no place out of reach for our forces to this end.

I would like to express my deep appreciation to the IDF – to the Chief of the General Staff, to the Commanders and troops in the IAF and IDI. Your capabilities not only ensure our security, but also bring us great pride. You enable us to stand strong in facing our enemies and to ensure the continuity of our people.
