UPDATE: Top FEMA official, 3 employees FIRED for sending huge sum to luxury hotels

From Fox News: The Department of Homeland Security told Fox News that “four employees are being fired today for circumventing leadership and unilaterally making the egregious payment for hotels for migrants in New York City.”

The firings come after Elon Musk wrote on X Monday that “The DOGE team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants.”

FEMA partners with Customs and Border Control (CBP) and administers money to the Shelter and Services Program (SSP), a government-funded program that provides assistance and housing for illegal immigrants released into the U.S. 

A New York City Hall spokesperson confirmed to Fox News that the city had received funds “through the past week” that were allocated by the Biden administration for the purpose of housing and supporting illegal immigrants. 

Of the $59.3 million, $19 million was for direct hotel costs, while the balance funded other services such as food and security. According to NY City Hall, the funds were not part of a disaster relief grant. 

The four employees fired for sending out the massive payment include FEMA’s Chief Financial Offier Mary Comans, two program analysts, and a grant specialist.

“Under President Trump and Secretary Noem’s leadership, DHS will not sit idly and allow deep state activists to undermine the will and safety of the American people,” reads a statement from DHS.

Podcaster Benny Johnson reported, “This is Big. Senior DHS Official has just confirmed to me that FEMA’s Chief Financial Officer Mary Comans was just fired for illegally funding migrant luxury hotels in NYC against the orders of President Trump. Comans is arguably most powerful person at FEMA, controlling billions in funding.”

“This is an earthquake,” Johnson added.

President Donald Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Tuesday morning, “FEMA spent tens of millions of dollars in Democrat areas, disobeying orders, but left the people of North Carolina high and dry. It is now under review and investigation. THE BIDEN RUN FEMA HAS BEEN A DISASTER. FEMA SHOULD BE TERMINATED! IT HAS BEEN SLOW AND TOTALLY INEFFECTIVE. INDIVIDUAL STATES SHOULD HANDLE STORMS, ETC., AS THEY COME. BIG SAVINGS, FAR MORE EFFICIENT!!!”

Journalist Laura Loomer also pointed out that while FEMA was sending millions for illegal aliens to live in luxury hotels, “hurricane and flood victims in North Carolina are freezing and starving in TENTS with zero FEMA money.”
