From KOLDTUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – At least 46 people were arrested during raids at homes and Taco Giro locations across southern Arizona on Friday, Dec. 5.

13 News confirmed with Homeland Security that agents were executing 16 warrants as part of a years-long investigation into immigration and tax crimes. Homeland Security said several people were taken into custody, and 13 News saw property, mainly boxes, being seized.

An ICE spokesman later said that the 46 people who were arrested were suspected of being in the U.S. illegally.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement released the following statement:

Thanks to President Trump’s Homeland Security Task Force, HSI Arizona facilitated the arrest of 46 illegal aliens who were arrested at several residences and restaurants in southern Arizona this morning. HSI Arizona conducted the operation with several law enforcement partners to include the IRS, ERO, U.S. Border Patrol.

As of now, those arrested for administrative immigration violations include:

46 – illegal aliens from Mexico

The Homeland Security Task Force, co-led by the U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi, is the first of its kind government task force that puts Americans first by coordinating with federal, state, and local partners to eradicate threats posed by transnational criminal organizations, cartels, and criminal illegal aliens. This is an ongoing investigation, information is limited.”

On Friday, Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.) claimed she was pepper-sprayed by federal agents after she identified herself as a member of Congress. She also said she’d happened upon the scene, a protest at the Taco Giro near St. Mary’s and Grande, as she was innocently headed out to lunch with coworkers.

Several X users found her claims absurd and called for her to be arrested.

Assistant Secretary Department of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin was one of the. She called Grijalva’s claim false and reported that two law enforcement officers had been injured during the protest.
