Concerns are growing over the large drones buzzing over the state of New Jersey, and one lawmaker said Wednesday that he believes Iran is behind it – a claim the Pentagon has denied.

The mysterious drones were first spotted on November 18, and have continued ever since, mostly at night, flying near President-elect Donald Trump’s Bedminster golf course and near military research sites in New Jersey. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and FBI are investigating the matter, but so far, the drone activity has been allowed to continue.

In a Fox News interview with host Harris Faulkner on Wednesday, Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) dropped a bombshell claim, saying he suspects the drones flying over his state are from Iran.

Van Drew is also declaring that the drones should be shot down.

“What we’ve uncovered is alarming—drones flying in from the direction of the ocean, possibly linked to a missing Iranian mothership. This is a national security crisis we cannot ignore. Bring them down now,” he declared.

During a press briefing at the Pentagon Wednesday afternoon, Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin asked about Drew’s allegation, and a Pentagon spokesperson declared there was NO truth to the claim.

“There is no Iranian ship off the cost of the United States, and there’s no so-called ‘mothership’ launching drones towards the United States,” she said.

From Fox News: A New Jersey state senator called for a limited state of emergency Tuesday as the mystery surrounding large drones flying over the Garden State continues to deepen.

“The State of New Jersey should issue a limited state of emergency banning all drones until the public receives an explanation regarding these multiple sightings,” Republican New Jersey state Sen. Jon Bramnick said in a press release.

Reports of large drones flying over President-elect Trump’s Bedminster golf course and near military research sites in New Jersey have been on the rise in recent weeks. On Monday, Gov. Phil Murphy announced there were dozens of reports of drones on Sunday alone.

“The public deserves answers about these drones! I’m calling for a limited state of emergency until we receive an explanation,” Brammick announced.

Brammick also spoke out in a Fox News interview Wednesday morning, and announced, “These drones need to be grounded until we find out more about them. Had a great conversation with @foxandfriends discussing how a “limited state of emergency” should be implemented until we get to the bottom of this.”

He said an emergency is even called ahead of a snowstorm, and yet nothing is being done about this.

“If the federal government doesn’t have an answer, we should all be worried. If our military has no clue what drones the size of cars are flying around New Jersey….” he fumed.

“Unfortunately the State of New Jersey has very little information regarding the drones being seen. The Department of Defense must investigate and until that occurs we must shut down the airspace to drones. That would require a limited state of emergency and FAA cooperation,” Bramnick wrote later on Wednesday.

Gov. Murphy spoke out on Monday, claiming officials don’t see any concern for public safety, but admitted that there were 49 sightings the night before, and said he’s “frustrated.”

“We’ve got good cooperation out of the feds, but we need more,” he said diplomatically. “If there is one that has crashed, someone please let me know,” he added, saying getting their hands on one would be “helpful.”

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) wrote on Tuesday, “My office has been in communication with Governor Murphy’s office and our federal agency partners. While the drones currently pose no known threat to the public, my team and I will continue to monitor the situation closely.”

On Tueday, Booker fired off a letter to Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg, FBI Director Chris Wray, and DHS Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas demanding answers.

The letter was re-tweeted by Gov. Murphy.

TeamDML.com founder and podcast host Dennis Michael Lynch has his own suspicions about the drones.

“Rep. Chris Smith revealed that a police officer reported 50 mysterious objects coming ‘in off the ocean.’ In another incident, a Coast Guard ship was followed by 12 to 30 of these objects. The fact that the government isn’t taking action makes me believe they have something to do with it,” DML wrote.
