From the New York Post: Cops investigating the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mom Nancy searched a septic tank behind her house Sunday, with drone footage showing them opening a manhole cover in the backyard.

Three detectives were spotted sticking a long pole down the manhole behind the house, although no further information has been released on what they were looking for.

An official police vehicle was also spotted outside the residence at around 11 a.m. local time.

They later left empty-handed. It’s not clear what led them to search the septic tank, or whether they had opened it previously.

Fox News released aerial footage showing the officers walking around the property and looking down the manhole into the septic tank.

Authorities believe Guthrie, 84, was kidnapped from her Tucson, Arizona home sometime around 2:00-2:30 a.m. one week ago, on Sunday, February 1. A ransom note was later sent to multiple media outlets, demanding $6 million in bitcoin, no later than Monday, February 9, at 5:00 p.m.

Billy Bush, a former colleague of Savannah Guthrie at NBC News, said during an interview on “The Sunday Briefing” that NBC could easily pay the ransom to the abductors.

Bush said that he believed there were reasons to be “very hopeful and optimistic” about Nancy Guthrie.

“You know, $6 million for NBC is a quick stroke of a, well, a quick hit send. And they should be able to get that done very easily,” Bush suggested.
