At least three of the girls missing from Camp Mystic have been confirmed dead after the devastating flooding in Texas.
The death toll is 27, according to officials, after the Guadalupe River rose to incredible levels, causing overwhelming flash floods.
The horrific flash flooding “has taken the lives of 27, including nine children and a selfless father who died saving his family’s lives,” the Daily Mail reports.
The outlet was referring to Julian Ryan, who died after punching out a window to get his fiancée, children, and mother out of their home and onto the roof in Guadalupe. The 27-year-old father cut his arm in the act, severing an artery as he “almost cut” his arm “clean off,” his fiancée, Christinia Wilson, reported to KHOU.
In his final moments, he told his family, “I’m sorry, I’m not going to make it. I love y’all.”

Among the 27 dead are at least three young girls who were attending Camp Mystic.
Renee Smajstrla, eight, Janie Hunt, nine, and Sarah Marsh are dead after the popular camp in Hunt was flooded.
“Thank you to all our friends and family for all the prayers and outreach. Renee has been found and while not the outcome we prayed for, the social media outreach likely assisted the first responders in helping to identify her so quickly,”Renee’s uncle said in a segment posted to Facebook.
“We are thankful she was with her friends and having the time of her life, as evidenced by this picture from yesterday. She will forever be living her best life at Camp Mystic. Please continue to pray for the other families in Kerrville.”
Camp Mystic, located along the Guadalupe River in Hunt, a small town, “has been a beloved summer retreat for some of the most influential young women in the Lone Star State”, the NY Post reports, citing a 2011 Texas Monthly story.
According to the outlet, the daughters of three former Texas Govs., Dan Moody, Price Daniel, and John Connally, attended the camp, as did the daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters of Democratic President Lyndon B. Johnson.
Other government personalities had relatives at the camp, and former first lady Laura Bush served as a Camp Mystic counselor before marrying former Texas Governor and Predident George W. Bush.
Hopeful families are awaiting news about loved ones at reunification centers at Ingram Elementary School in Ingram, Texas, and The Arcadia Live Theater in Kerrville, Texas, according to the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office.
Now, another city is in danger.
The Mail reports:
The National Weather Service has warned that Austin is next in line for biblical floods as Kerrville is swamped under dangerously high waters that have swept children down a river, devastated families, and ruined homes.
Locals worry Lake Lyndon B. Johnson, which is near the Southern city, will burst as the Llano River is near its crest and flowing quickly toward the body of water.
‘Boaters need to get off the water ASAP. Debris-filled fast-moving water will arrive rapidly,’ CBS Austin Meteorologist, Avery Tomasco, warned.
The river is flowing at a whopping 125,000 cubic-feet-per-second – nearly three times as fast as it was mere hours ago.
