A Muslim man in England, Muhammed Hassan, 26, from Bradford, won’t immediately serve time in prison despite pleading guilty to what a judge described as “an outrageous public display of misogyny.”

Hassan assaulted three women he knew at a gas station in broad daylight, disapproving of their makeup and clothing. The incident occurred on May 25 when Hassan attacked one of the women, slamming her head on the dashboard, pulling another by her hair, and punching all three.

Hassan was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for two years, meaning he’ll avoid prison unless he breaches the terms of his sentence. He is required to complete 35 rehabilitation days and 180 hours of community service and will wear an electronic tag for four months to monitor his movements. Additionally, he must pay a £500 fine.

According to Daily Wire, Judge Colin Burn said in court the following in his ruling:

“Whatever the motivation was for this it’s still utterly inadequate to justify the violence that you perpetrated against [the victims] when they were sitting in a car effectively cowering from you. The three people on the receiving end of your violence were women who were in a vulnerable situation… [This was] an extremely abusive, controlling, and violent incident.”

One of the women testified that Hassan deliberately refueled his car slowly at the gas station, causing them to wait because he had previously insulted them, calling them “slags” and “prostitutes” for not wearing traditional clothing and makeup. Despite their caution, Hassan managed to access their vehicle and violently attacked them in a 51-second assault captured on CCTV. After the attack, he drove away as the women called the police. When questioned by police, Hassan remained silent but later pleaded guilty to an affray charge, a disorderly conduct offense.
