TRUMP EFFECT: Another nation follows Trump’s lead: will shutter organizations taking USAID funding

From Breitbart: Hungary will take legal action to shutter local non-governmental organizations and media outlets that take funding from United States agencies and other international sources, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Friday. He added the time had come to “eliminate these foreign networks.”

AP reports Orban, an consistent ally of U.S. President Donald Trump, said in statements on state radio his government was going “line by line” through organizations operating in Hungary that have received financial assistance from the United States.

He praised Trump’s decision to dismantle the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), claiming such aid had been used to fund organizations that sought to “topple” his government.

“Now is the moment when these international networks have to be taken down, they have to be swept away,” Orbán said. “It is necessary to make their existence legally impossible.”

Thursday, Orban announced on X, “The rabbit is out of the hat! We had to endure for years that the ultra-progressive, self-proclaimed human rights champions of the mainstream media demonized Patriotic political forces for years. They did it because they were paid to do so by USAID and the previous, left-wing US administration. I agree with President @realDonaldTrump: this is too big and too dirty to hide from.”

In another post, Orban wrote, “So apparently USAID financed ultra-progressive Politico in Brussels and basically the entire left-wing media in Hungary under the previous US administration. And they called me “disruptor of the year”…. I think the world owes a debt of gratitude to President @realDonaldTrump for uncovering and putting an end to this dark conspiracy.”

Earlier this week, Orban announced:

Yesterday we held the first EU-summit in Brussels since President Trump was inaugurated. It was a strange gathering. Everyone in Brussels can see the Trump tornado coming, but most still think they can get away from it. They won’t.

In 14 days, Donald Trump has already turned the world upside down with a few measures. The gender madness in America is over, the financing of globalist Soros organizations is over, illegal migration is over, and support for the Russian-Ukrainian war is also over. In other words, everything that the bureaucrats in Brussels have tried to force down our throats in recent years is over.

But there is something else here. We can also say goodbye to the rules of world trade as we know them. President Trump will stand up for American interests, even against Europe. The European Union faces difficult months ahead and the bureaucrats in Brussels are going to have a tough time.

We need to make an agreement, a deal, to preserve our economic relations with the United States. And a really good deal can be made by those who not only know but also respect each other.

We always knew that President Trump would return, so we were prepared. We are constantly negotiating and we will make a good deal with the new administration of the United States.

And what about the bureaucrats in Brussels? You’ve made your bed, now lie in it!

“It’s time for Hungary to review what we’re doing in an international organization that is under US sanctions! New winds are blowing in international politics. We call it the Trump-tornado,” Orban wrote.
