From the Daily Mail: A promising young cheerleader will be taken off life-support on Tuesday evening after she was shot a party.
Kimber Mills, 18, of Cleveland in Alabama, was one of four people who were hit with bullets close to a highway near Palmerdale on Saturday.
Her brain is too damaged for her to survive her injuries. She will receive an ‘honor walk’ at 4pm ET, her sister said.
Ashley Mills wrote on Facebook: ‘Once they declare her brain dead, she will be an organ donor.’
Tuesday afternoon, Kimber’s family and friends are planning to form a line along the corridors of the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham to pay their respects the teenager is wheeled into surgery so that her heart and lungs can be donated.
The report explains that Kimber is currently on life support and has been sedated heavily to make her comfortable.
However, her sister, Ashley Mills, said doctors told them there is no surgery that can repair the damage, and if she did survive, she would be on breathing and feeding tubes for the rest of her life.
“As soon as her brain is done swelling to its max point, it will eventually cause brain death,” Ashley said, adding, “That’s when they will declare her deceased, and then do her Honor Walk and organ donation.”
Authorities have arrested 27-year-old Steven Tyler Whitehead, of Brookwood, in the shooting of two men and two women, including Kimber Mills. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond, and has already been charged with murder.
The shooting happened during an outdoor bonfire in a wooded area where several young people had gathered. Mills was reportedly shot in the head.
The other three people are expected to survive their injuries.
The family of an Alabama high school cheerleader is keeping vigil at her bedside as she clings to life following a gunshot wound to the head at a weekend party.
