Teen actor Hudson Meek, 16, best known for his role in the 2017 Academy Award-nominated movie, “Baby Driver,” died just four days before Christmas, after he reportedly fell out of a moving vehicle.
The tragic incident happened on December 19 in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. Hudson suffered blunt force trauma injuries and was rushed to the hospital, but passed away two days later, on Dec. 21, TMZ reported.
AL.com reported that the accident happened at 10:47 p.m. last Thursday. The Vestavia Hills police are reportedly investigating, but specific details have not yet been released.
In an emotional post on Facebook last Saturday, Hudson’s mother, Lani Wells Meek, posted the news of her son’s death. She wrote:
Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.
Specific details regarding a Celebration of Hudson’s Life to be held on December 28, as well as how to contribute to a scholarship in Hudson’s memory at Vestavia Hills High School in lieu of flowers, will follow.
Please pray for our family and friends as we all process this sudden and tragic loss.
An obituary posted online announced, “Hudson Joseph Meek, 16 years old from Vestavia Hills, Alabama, died peacefully on December 21, 2024. He was surrounded by friends, family, and the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
“Hudson was an organ donor, and his family is comforted by knowing that he will continue to help others for years to come,” the obituary stated.
In addition to “Baby Driver,” Hudson had roles in multiple other television shows including, “MacGyver,” “Found,” “Legacies” and the 2015 film “90 Minutes in Heaven.”
Hudson also did voice-overs for Toys-R-Us and McDonald’s commercials.
“Hudson was also an accomplished actor. He worked on several major motion pictures and television shows, some of which will be released in 2025. He absolutely loved spending time on set and having the chance to learn the names and stories of every member of the cast and crew,” his obituary also announced.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for Saturday, December 28.
