Runway Founder and CEO Siqi Chen, a self-describe entrepreneur and investor, declared on social media that in spite of being a lifelong Democrat, he’s just registered as a Republican.
On September 11, Chen, who is also the CEO of Sandbox VR, wrote, “today, a mother had to go home and tell her 4 year girl that she is never going to see her daddy again because he chose to exercise his 1st amendment rights in public. Freedom is not free.”

Most of the responses to the post were respectful and sorrowful, with some commenting that Kirk’s children were at the event.
