THE TRUMP EFFECT: Cracker Barrel makes another major change after rebrand fiasco

FROM FOX BUSINESS: Cracker Barrel has quietly removed the Pride page from its website after facing consumer backlash over its rebranding efforts.

The website link for Cracker Barrel’s Pride page, which used to boast that the company was “bringing the porch to Pride,” now redirects to its “Culture and Belonging” page.

“At Cracker Barrel, welcoming people has always been at the heart of who we are. When we take care of one another, we are able to take even better care of the people who walk through our doors,” the page says.

The company, famous for home-cooking and a family feel, has been heavily criticized for its past support of LGBT causes.

Cracker Barrel sparked mass consumer outrage when it decided to veer away from its kitschy Americana aesthetic, opting for a streamlined logo, removal of it’s “Old Timer” icon, and updated interiors featuring a modernist theme.

The disastrous rebrand came after months of outrage over the company’s DEI practices, solidifying a sharp divergence from it’s roots and away from the wishes of it’s core customers, according to massive feedback from their diners. The rebranding seemed to seal the deal.

But after President Donald J. Trump weighed in, telling the company to cry uncle, take the free publicity, and follow their customer’s advice, the company announced a u-turn on the rebrand. Now, they’ve backpedaled on their Pride page, too.
