FROM DAILY MAIL: Don Lemon was left humiliated during a cringeworthy street interview after he incorrectly claimed it is not a crime to cross the border illegally.
The former CNN host was given a lesson in the law by a legal Mexican migrant in Chicago who he stopped to interview about the immigration crisis.
During the discussion, the woman rhetorically asked Lemon whether it was illegal to come to the US without proper documentation.
Lemon tried to convince the woman that illegally crossing the border was a bending of rules and not actually breaking the law, but the savvy lady and her male companion weren’t buying what Lemon was selling.
Using logic and facts, the pair explained why entering the country illegally is, indeed, a crime, but Lemon chalked it up to “semantics.”
“You guys are getting things mixed up,” Lemon said.
It was clear that he’d received a very public schooling, however.
One X user commented on the clip, saying, “Only Don Lemon would stand there and tell a legal immigrant that coming to this country illegally is okay and that she’s wrong.”
