TERRIFYING SCENE: Minneapolis anti-ICE mob attacks two conservative journalists in vehicle

From the Daily Caller: Independent journalists Nick Sortor and Cam Higby escaped an attack by a mob while attempting to cover protests against immigration enforcement operations in the Minneapolis area Sunday.

Protests against the operations led by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) escalated after an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Nicole Good while carrying out an enforcement operation in Minneapolis Wednesday, prompting angry reactions from Democratic Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota and Democratic Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis. Sortor and Higby posted videos of the mob’s attack, which was allegedly incited by a left-wing streamer, on X.

In a post on X, Sortor explained: “These are the moments leading up to Minneapolis anti-ICE rioters SURROUNDING my vehicle, smashing my windows, and attempting to kiII @CamHigby and me. I was forced to drive away to save our lives, repeatedly warning those standing in front to GET OUT OF THE WAY.

“They didn’t listen, so I had no choice but to go anyway. They then used vehicles to BLOCK US as we were running, forcing me to throw the truck off the road to go around them. Then, it appears we were CHASED down the interstate by another one of their goons.

“I have to post this now because these idiots called the police on me saying I had a gun and was “running innocent protestors over.” You can try to terrorize me all you want. BUT I WILL NEVER STOP, AND NEVER SHUT UP.”

Higby also shared a video of the terrifying incident.

“This is the moment @nicksortor was forced to drive away as a mob SURROUNDED his vehicle, smashed the windows, and spray painted the car. Rioters have now told @MinneapolisPD that we have guns. The rioters repeatedly threatened to kill us,” he wrote.

In another video, Higby wrote, ” Rioters at Minneapolis federal building blocked @nicksortor and I with their vehicles and bodies. They smashed our windows and tagged the car. We believe we were followed down the interstate.”

Liberal YouTube streamer Andrew Mercado was reportedly playing a major role in the attack against the conservative journalists, who he claimed were “propagandists.”

Higby explained, “Two days ago I tried to shake Andrew Mercado’s hand and make peace with him. He continued to lie and defame. Tonight he incited a mob against a vehicle I was, which resulted in rocks and frozen water bottles being thrown through our windows.”

Later, Mercado tried to “apologize.”

“I should not have lost my cool tonight no matter how tough it gets. I’m sleep deprived, managing PTSD, very little food/water because federal agents murdered one of my fellow Minnesotans. MAGA agitators are best dealt with by ignoring them. It’s difficult for me as a man to watch the same few agitators go from city to city hitting women and instigating fights. I apologize for losing my cool tonight and coming across as a different person,” he wrote.

Sortor fired back, “Lawyer up, dumbfuck.”

Higby showed the frozen water bottles that the mob had used to break the windows on Sortor’s truck.

Sortor wrote, “They should be arrested for attempted fcking murder. They beamed frozen water bottles through the windows, and if one of us would’ve been struck, we could’ve easily been kiIIed. This was planned. But luckily, I drove away, so they beamed them through the back window instead.”

Higby further explained, “To be clear: Nick Sortor did not initiate any physical contact with anyone. We only left our vehicle when rioters assaulted or clashed with agents. Our job is to film. They would mob and attack us every time. We did our best not to engage with them. Obviously they repeatedly initiated physical contact with us.”

“Nick and I fled to Eagan Police Department. They were very responsive, and helpful in keeping us safe and assisting following the attack,” Higby added.
