While Vice President Kamala Harris finally visits the southern border after all these years, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang members, following his recent designation of the group as a “Foreign Terrorist Organization.”

“Tren de Aragua has spread terror and carnage in every country they’ve been in, and Texas will not allow them to gain a foothold in our state,” Governor Abbott said in a statement this week. “Today, I am announcing a reward for any information that leads to the identification and arrest of known or suspected members of this gang who have been or are involved in heinous crimes. Texas will not let these thugs use our state as a base of operations to terrorize our citizens.”
“With the public’s help, combined with the hard work of federal, state, and local law enforcement, we will capture these dangerous gang members and put them behind bars for good,” Abbott added.
The Governor’s Office of Public Safety will oversee rewards of up to $5,000 for tips on TdA gang members in Texas, with information submitted through Texas Crime Stoppers or the Department of Public Safety. Abbott designated the violent Venezuelan gang as a foreign terrorist organization last week, which comes after multiple reports of the gang’s growing influence and reach, such as their takeover of apartment buildings in Aurora, Colorado.

The gang also recently took over the Gateway Hotel in El Paso. The violent activity by TdA gang members forced a Texas district court judge to order the closing of the hotel after city officials complained in a lawsuit against the owners. On record,  there were nearly 700 phone calls for service requests to law enforcement over issues at the hotel.
