TAKE A BREAK: Whoopi Goldberg honors Veterans Day by… attacking Pete Hegseth

On Tuesday’s episode of ABC’s The View, the hosts used Veterans Day to criticize the Trump administration.

While sharing tributes to their veteran family members, moderator Whoopi Goldberg took a jab at War Secretary Pete Hegseth, an Army combat veteran, suggesting he doesn’t care about those returning from war.

“So, Joy [Behar] is out today, hopefully she will be back tomorrow, and it is also Veterans Day today and we want to start by thanking every veteran in this country who has served in our armed forces,” Goldberg announced at the beginning of the show.

Later in the segment, Goldberg claimed that America hasn’t always treated its veterans well but is trying to improve. She then singled out Hegseth, implying he wasn’t committed to supporting or caring for veterans.

“We don’t always treat you as well as we should, we don’t always take care of you the way that we should, but we are — we are committing to trying to do a better job, now,” said Goldberg. “We’re trying to do a better job. You hear me, Pete Hegseth? You hear me?”

Co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in with agreement: “Yeah. Yeah!”

Goldberg and co-host Ana Navarro then used the opportunity to instill divisive identity politics in their commentary.

“And by the way that includes the women, that incudes the LGBTQ, that includes all the African Americans and the Latinos who have served,” declared Navarro.

Because if you don’t know the history of our armed forces you don’t know what it — what it did to people who fought for this country, who couldn’t vote in this country,” said Goldberg. “You know? Women fought, black people, Asian people, Spanish people, people of all walks fought for this country when they weren’t sure that the country was going to fight for them.”

As recently as last month, The View hosts accused the National Guard of potentially aiding President Trump in stealing future elections and mocked the idea that Trump and the Army share a birthday, comparing U.S. troops to Nazis who “just follow orders.” In 2023, they claimed American service members were “radicalized” and should be monitored, even calling for the Justice Department to prosecute Fox News for “recruiting domestic terrorists” from military bases.

Notably, none of the women co-hosts on The View have served in the military.
