Psalm 26: 1-2
1 Judge me, O Lord; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the Lord; therefore I shall not slide.
2 Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

When we examine and search our own motives and actions, we may be inclined to give ourselves a pass and not really hold ourselves accountable. And when others examine us, they may misjudge us or be too critical.
But we can have 100% confidence that when we are willing to ask God to judge and examine us, He will do so with mercy, love and compassion. When we just let God take control of our ‘reins,’ he will help us get back on the right track, and choose the right path.
