STUNNING CHANGE OF TONE: Trump and Mamdani speak with reporters in Oval Office

For months, bitter barbs have been traded back and forth between President Donald Trump and New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim Democrat Socialist who has only been a US citizen since 2018.

Now, it’s suddenly turned into a “bromance.”

Mamdani traveled to Washington, D.C. Friday morning and met with President Trump at the White House. After their meeting, reporters were invited into the Oval Office for a briefing and allowed to ask questions.

Trump started off by saying he and Mamdani just had a productive meeting, congratulated him on his victory, and noted that, at the end of the day, they both want New York to be a safe, affordable but prosperous city.

On their differences, Trump said of Mamdani, “He’s got views that are a little out there, but who knows. We’re going to see what works.”

Trump added that “some of my views have changed,” and said he thinks Mamdani is going to surprise some conservative people.

On the issue of illegal immigration, Trump said, “He wants to have a safe New York. Ultimately, a safe New York is going to be a great New York… if you don’t have safe streets, it’s not going to be a success.”

Shaking hands with Mamdani, Trump said, “We’re going to be helping him to make everybody’s dream come true, having a strong and very safe New York.”

Mamdani said he discussed affordability concerns with President Trump, adding: “I appreciated the time with the president. I appreciated the conversation. I look forward to working together to deliver that affordability for New Yorkers.”

When confronted about the House just passing a resolution to condemn socialism, Mamdani brushed it aside and said, “I am someone who is a Democratic Socialist. I’ve been very open about that. And I know there might be differences about ideology, but the place of agreement is the work that needs to be done to make New York City affordable.”

Mamdani was asked by Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich to explain his comments on calling the president a “fascist.” Trump joked and told the Muslim mayor-elect, “That’s OK, you can just say yes … it’s easier than explaining it. I don’t mind.”

The Daily Mail published a report on the meeting and titled it, “Weary Trump caves to socialist Mamdani and says ‘you can call me fascist’ in extraordinary concession.”

Trump said of Mamdani, “I met with a man who’s a very rational person. I met with a man who really wants to see New York be great again… I think he can bring it back… I’ll be cheering for him.”

The meeting and surprise “bromance” between Trump and Mamdani is getting mixed reactions. Some are praising it, while others are sounding the alarm.

Breitbart’s Joel Pollak wrote, “Trump is magnanimous with Mamdani, who seems to have put his angry speeches away. Good for NYC and the nation.”

British commentator Piers Morgan wrote, “This is amazing. Kudos to Trump & Mamdani on coming together. We need more of this.”

Meanwhile, DMLNewsApp founder and podcast host Dennis Michael Lynch warned, “Last week Mamdani was a “communist, evil man.” Today he’s a bro. The MAGA movement is in huge trouble.”

DML then posted a sobering warning:

I’m going to pin this and not take it down until Nov/2026. Per the recent comments from Trump and his time spent with radicals, even though I voted for him 3xs, his actions are pushing people away and so the MIDTERMS will be a bloodbath. The lovefest with Mamdani, and with the Saudi Prince, and the Syrian terrorist who played his part in killing Christians and Americans, and the comments to Fox about the need for more H1B visas, and welcoming 600k Chinese students to save colleges (nonsense claim), and calling for more legal immigration, and not putting in mandatory eVerify, and not stopping AI from taking jobs, the MIDTERMS will be a bloodbath. We will lose the House, and maybe the Senate. JD Vance’s chances in 2028 are becoming slim. And Islam will be the dominant religion in 10 states within 10 years.

Podcast host Clay Travis wrote, “This Mamdani-Trump press conference is an absolute bromance. Both guys seem to love each other. Almost zero conflict, tons of praise for each other.”

Journalist Laura Loomer responded, “So we are just going to normalize communism?Aren’t you a host of a conservative radio program? @ClayTravis. What are you preserving by glazing communism, anti-white racism, Jew hatred, open borders and Islamic terror? Sad to see. The GOP will lose the midterms.”

In another post, Loomer laid it all on the line:

Mamdani openly campaigned with Palestinians who stormed synagogues.
He campaigned with a 1993 World Trade Center bombing co conspirator.
Mamdani said globalize the intifada.
Mamdani wants white people to be taxed more.
Mamdani wants to ban ICE.

What part of any of that makes anyone feel comfortable?
What is the GOP going to campaign on ahead of the midterms if the GOP is saying Mamdani is good?

This is very bad for our country to normalize Mamdani’s polices. Trump said Mamdani is a communist who will destroy New York. He is still the same Mamdani. Nothing about any of that should make anyone feel comfortable. It’s going to be a disaster. You’ll see.

Still furious, Loomer added: “Why did @ZelenskyyUa receive a harsher welcome at the White House than Mamdani Interesting. If socialists are doing a good job, then I guess nobody needs to vote them out during the midterms.

“If you’re a Republican, why not just stay home in 2026 and 2028 since Mamdani’s policies are amazing? I’m confused. No need to oppose the left I guess. I guess socialism is “comfortable” now… No need to vote for the GOP in 2026 is the message I’m getting from that. Am I missing something?”

Another MAGA supporter also voiced concern, writing, “Selling out the American people to a socialist dictator like Mamdani!”

Vice President JD Vance joked about Trump’s comment on being called a “fascist.”
