STANDOFF: Trump to Host Congressional Leaders at White House as Government Funding set to Expire

From Breitbart: President Donald Trump is reportedly planning to meet with the “top four congressional leaders” at the White House on Monday, ahead of next week’s government shutdown, according to a report.

“The top four congressional leaders will meet with President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday,” Andrew Desiderio, the senior congressional reporter for Punchbowl News wrote in a post on X, citing “multiple sources familiar with the matter.”

President Trump slammed Democrats in the Oval Office on Friday, “They asked us to do something that’s totally unreasonable. They never change — they want to give money away to illegals… they want to give them massive federal money, and we don’t want to do that.”

“Also, they want to open up the borders,” Trump warned.

Vice President JD Vance wrote Thursday, “Democrats are about to shutdown the government because they demand we fund healthcare for illegal aliens.”

Elon Musk replied, “Yup.”

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) chimed in, “Even after losing power, Democrats want to force Republicans to embrace their failed policies—the same policies that caused them to lose the House, Senate, and White House.”

Rep. Byron Donalds warned:

Schumer wants to fund illegal aliens.
Schumer wants to fund leftist media.
Schumer wants to reopen the border.

The American people rejected this madness on November 5th. If there is a government shutdown, it’s because Schumer wants a shutdown to fund reckless, radical spending.

Senate Republicans posted a side-by-side comparison of what Democrats are holding out for in the funding bill:

Meanwhile, Democrat leaders are wildly claiming that Trump is about to destroy healthcare.  But what Democrats reportedly want to do is put NON-CITIZENS back on taxpayer-funded healthcare programs.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer claimed, “Donald Trump is making health care in America more expensive. He’s about to shut down the government over it. And he’s about to send the price of prescription drugs even higher with his new tariffs.”

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wrote, “Donald Trump and Republicans are continuing to gut healthcare. That’s why they have no interest in funding the government. Shameful.”

Senate Majority Leader John Thune explained, “Democrats’ list of demands includes wiping out a $50 billion rural hospital fund and $1 trillion in new spending. A bill to fund the government should not be hijacked to cater to their far-left base.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson is rolling out the “receipts.”
