SPECIAL REPORT: Conservatives react to Trump’s VP pick

Reactions are pouring in from conservatives after former President Donald Trump, now the official Republican presidential nominee, announced in a social media post Monday that he has chosen Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio as his running mate.

Vance, 39, a U.S. Marine veteran, has served in the U.S. Senate since January 2023, and has been a favorite on the list of potential Trump vice president picks.

Donald Trump Jr. has also highly favored Vance.  He wrote on social media, “Biden is stuck with the worst VP in the history of our nation. President Trump has one of the most dynamic, young leaders in the country in @JDVance1.”

“We also have incredible patriots like Governor @DougBurgum, Senator @marcorubio, and countless others who will work their tails off to get my father elected this November! Our party has never been more unified!”

Elon Musk said the “Trump/Vance” ticket “Resounds with victory.”

Former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who was once discussed as a possible VP contender himself, wrote on social media, “I believe Trump-Vance will be the most formidable presidential ticket of my lifetime. 🇺🇸”

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, who was just notified Monday morning that he was not chosen, wrote, “.@realdonaldtrump is the strongest leader to enter the political arena in modern American history! Today he selected @JdVance1 as his running mate, whose small town roots and service to country make him a powerful voice for the America First Agenda. I look forward to campaigning for the Trump-Vance ticket to Make America Great Again!”

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who was also one of the top contenders for the VP spot, wrote, “#TrumpVance2024!!!”

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) wrote, “Congratulations to @JDVance1 on being the VP nominee. JD is an American Patriot, and he has my full support. I am all in to make Trump-Vance the winning ticket this November!”

Daily Wire founder Ben Shapiro wrote, “As a friend put it, Vance is truly a “f*** it, we ride!” pick from Trump. Demonstrates real confidence — and shows that he wants a bulldog. Vance is certainly that. In terms of pure IQ and speaking ability, Vance is the best candidate Trump could pick.”

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk said, “A great choice by Trump. Let’s win this thing 🔥.”

Trump’s former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also congratulated Vance, writing, “Congratulations to Senator @JDVance1, a man who loves America deeply and who I am confident will deliver incredible wins for the American people as President Trump’s VP!”

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) wrote, “So proud of my friend and colleague JD Vance. Congratulations JD!”

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Col.) wrote, “I look forward to working with President Trump and Vice President Vance in January and beyond! GREAT CHOICE!”

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, now an Independent, wrote earlier, “It appears that President Trump may have chosen JD Vance for his VP. If so, that is a good choice.”

“We got our man!” cheered Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.).

Anticipation is now building over a potential debate between Vance and Kamala Harris.
