Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, is under consideration for Secretary of Defense in a potential second Trump administration. According to sources, the Trump transition team has reached out to him, and he was recently re-elected without opposition.
Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.), a former Green Beret, is also being considered for Secretary of Defense. Waltz, who has experience advising past defense secretaries and leading Metis Solutions, currently serves on key House committees, including Armed Services, Intelligence, and Foreign Affairs.
Republicans are optimistic about retaining their House majority following their Senate and White House wins. They plan to swiftly advance Trump’s agenda despite the usual weeks-long process for replacing a House member.
Trump recently appointed Susie Wiles, his campaign manager, as White House chief of staff. Sources say Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York, another essential player in Trump’s campaign, is under consideration for UN ambassador.
Some of the reactions to Rogers have been less than favorable:
Mike Rogers is the defense industry’s highest-paid Congressman. His Chief of Staff is also now a lobbyist for the Ukrainian government https://t.co/5r5mWi88sh

So he’s a Neocon. Why can’t we just get someone normal? Who projects strength but also isn’t compromised by contractors?

Why is he even being considered? Tulsi Gabbard is right there and she’s not a deep state warmonger or corrupt lobbyist.
