In a heated online exchange, North Carolina-based Jewish Zionist journalist Sloan Rachmuth sparked controversy by targeting Vice President JD Vance over his hiring of Buckley Carlson, the son of conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, as a top aide.
Rachmuth, in a tweet posted Sunday, claimed that Tucker Carlson’s brother, also named Buckley, idolizes far-right figure Nick Fuentes, labeling racism and antisemitism as a “Carlson family trait.” She extended her accusations to Tucker’s 28-year-old son Buckley, questioning whether he is a “vile bigot” and demanding to know if Vance is aware of the alleged “ethnic and religious hatred” within the Carlson family.
Rachmuth, who describes herself as a defender of Judeo-Christian values, is an investigative journalist and political commentator focused on education, policy, and national security. As the executive director of Pen & Shield Media and former president of the North Carolina chapter of Proclaiming Justice to the Nations, a pro-Israel organization dedicated to fostering dialogue between Christians and Jews, Rachmuth has been involved in anti-Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) efforts and campus radicalism reporting.
Vance swiftly responded in a series of tweets, lambasting Rachmuth for attacking a staffer in his 20s simply because she dislikes his father’s views. Vance emphasized that every public attack on Buckley Carlson he’s seen has been a “complete lie” from individuals with agendas, praising the young aide as a “good guy who does a great job.”
Vance then questioned whether lying about someone you don’t know aligns with Rachmuth’s professed “Judeo-Christian values,” stating that it’s not a value in any church he has attended. Vance added that while he tolerates disagreements within his coalition, as a loyal person, he has “zero tolerance for scumbags attacking my staff,” referring to all such attackers on Buckley as “scumbags.”
Sloan Rachmuth is a “journalist” who has decided to obsessively attack a staffer in his 20s because she doesn’t like the views of his father.

Sloan describes herself as a defender of “Judeo-Christian Values.” Is it a “Judeo-Christian value” to lie about someone you don’t know? Not in any church I ever spent time in!

I have an extraordinary tolerance for disagreements and criticisms from the various people in our coalition. But I am a very loyal person, and I have zero tolerance for scumbags attacking my staff. And yes, *everyone* who I’ve seen attack Buckley with lies is a scumbag.

Rachmuth then issued the following response back:
“Mr. Vice President, that “someone I don’t know” is one of your top advisors being paid with taxpayer funds. It’s not the guy who trims your shrubs or cuts your hair.
And YES, defending Judeo-Christian values entails speaking out against the antisemitism that’s tearing our nation apart. It also involves questioning those at the highest level of government about their hires ,and speaking truth to power when needed.
Sir, shall I remain quiet while Jews like me are being targeted by massive media platforms, and while our country is being destroyed by hate??
Or can I continue to ask questions and fight against injustices without being unfairly questioned about my loyalty to my country?
I look forward to hearing back from you.”

Buckley Carlson has been working with Vance since January 2025, serving as Deputy Press Secretary in the Vice President’s Communications Office. Prior to this role, he spent five years as a Capitol Hill aide, most recently serving as deputy chief of staff for Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.), where he handled operations and provided staff support.
The controversy stems in part from Tucker Carlson’s brother, the other Buckley Carlson, who has stirred backlash by retweeting clips from Nick Fuentes, including one that emphasizes America First priorities over personal critiques of Trump. Additionally, the elder Buckley Carlson criticized World Jewish Congress leader Ronald Lauder in a tweet, mocking his call for laws banning antisemitism in U.S. schools as “MORE indoctrination” and noting Lauder’s aim at Tucker Carlson.
“we didn’t vote for Trump because he was an obnoxious boomer. We voted for Trump because he was going to put America first.” 100%. Where within this clip is he wrong? https://t.co/XBhByDuzOz

How novel that the answer is always MORE indoctrination. Lauder is ancient, but he clearly hasn’t visited an American school in the past 30 years. The entire curriculum can be summed up as: Slavery, Holocaust, America Bad.@infolibnews https://t.co/DKTrgWM1T0
