SLAP ON THE WRIST! Judge hands sentence to two teens for assaulting former DOGE staffer

From Fox News: The two teens charged with assaulting a former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer were sentenced to probation this week.

Edward Coristine was assaulted on Aug. 3 in Washington, D.C.’s Logan Circle neighborhood around 3 a.m. A boy and girl who were both 15 years old were charged in relation to the alleged assault and pleaded guilty in juvenile court, according to WUSA.

A judge sentenced the boy to 12 months of probation on Tuesday and the girl was sentenced to nine months’ probation. The boy pleaded guilty to felony assault, simple assault, robbery and attempted robbery related to the incident, while the girl pleaded guilty to simple assault.

In explaining the decision, the judge said the juvenile court’s purpose isn’t to punish, but rather to rehabilitate. The judge said she hopes the teens will use the probationary period as a learning experience.

In a separate report, ABC News wrote:

The teens had faced the maximum possibility of being held in custody under the D.C. Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services until age 21.

The attempted carjacking unfolded in early August in northwest Washington, D.C., according to a police statement. Coristine and a woman were standing next to their car on Swann Street, several blocks from Logan Circle, when they were allegedly accosted by multiple suspects, according to police.

“The suspects demanded the victim’s vehicle and then assaulted one of the victims,” according to the police statement.

The attack only ended when a police car arrived as the assault was in progress, prompting the attackers to take off running. Officers were only able to catch two of them, the boy and girl who have now been let off with just a slap on the wrist.  Eight others involved in the attack got away.

The media reports did not name the judge who let the teens off the hook, but law professor Jonathan Turley did.  She is the same Biden-appointed judge who freed the pair from custody in August.

ABOUT THIS JUDGE: Kendra Briggs, 50, has been an associate judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia since 2023. She previously was an assistant United States attorney from 2010 to 2023. Briggs was nominated by Joe Biden in November 2021, and approved by the U.S. Senate by a “voice vote” in December 2022.

Elon Musk blasted the judge’s decision, writing, “This was a racist verdict by a racist judge. The simple test to apply is if the races has been reversed, the White kids would be in prison. Equal justice for all!”

Coristine wrote on X, “To this day, they’ve only caught two out of the ten. Eight of them remain on the street. That night could’ve gone far differently. Think of your daughters and mothers. The same group attacked people before and after us, breaking ribs and stomping heads. This senseless crime must be stopped.”

Musk replied, “Of the ten attackers, two were adults. The DC DoJ refused to prosecute them! Hopefully, this changes soon.”

Brian Krassenstein, a liberal, mocked those who are outraged over the lack of punishment by saying, “the suspects were minors (only 15 years old) and only approximately 8-15% of such crimes by minors result in prison time.”

Coristine was part of a panel of DOGE staffers who sat down for an exclusive interview with Fox News host Jesse Watters and Elon Musk in May. Below is a segment of that interview in which Coristine jokingly explains why he is called “Big Balls” and what his work with DOGE involved:
