From the New York Post: The maniac caught on video dragging a “motionless” pit bull into a Queens street before setting the poor pooch on fire last week has been arrested, cops said.
Isaiah Gurley, 29, was arrested around 8:20 p.m. Monday, when an eagle-eyed shopper at the Queens Center Mall spotted the alleged animal abuser, who was wearing the same maroon POLO hoodie, and called 911, authorities and sources said.
He was charged with reckless endangerment, aggravated cruelty to animals, torturing, injuring or not feeding an animal, and arson with intent to damage property, authorities said.
Gurley allegedly dragged the brindle pit bull into the street under the cover of darkness around 4:45 a.m. Thursday at 128 Street and 116 Avenue in South Ozone Park, police said.
Police say after Gurley dragged the dog out into the street, he poured an accelerant on the animal and set him on fire. The dog was found dead in the street when police arrived, although they are unable to determine whether the dog was burned to death, or whether it was killed first and then set on fire.
Gurley was reportedly arrested once before in December 2019 on an assault charge.
On July 26, the NYPD Crime Stoppers shared two photos of the suspect and announced the sickening crime, writing, “WANTED FOR ARSON: On 7/24/25, at 128 Street and 116 Avenue, NYPD 106 Precinct, an unidentified individual was observed dragging a motionless dog. The individual then poured an accelerant on the animal and ignited it.”

Curtis Silwa, Republican candidate for NYC Mayor, responded to the horrific incident, writing on Monday, “Today I hit the streets of South Ozone Park to help find the monster who dragged a helpless dog and set it on fire near 128th St and 116th Ave. This evil cannot go unanswered. When I’m mayor, animal welfare will be a real priority — because this city has failed to take it seriously for far too long.”
Tuesday, Silwa reacted to news of the arrest.
“Yesterday I was in South Ozone Park getting the word out about the horrific animal abuse that shocked our city. Thanks to tips that came in, the NYPD made an arrest last night in the confines of the 110 Precinct. Isaiah K. Gurley of Queens was taken into custody after 8 PM and is facing multiple charges including at least 5 counts of animal abuse, reckless endangerment, torture and arson. Great work by NYPD. Now let’s make sure the book is thrown at him,” he added.
