From Fox News: A pathologist’s controversial ruling that Ellen Greenberg, a 27-year-old Philadelphia woman whose death by 20 stab wounds was a suicide, will receive a new review after Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court agreed to hear arguments from her parents and their attorney.

The family learned the court had agreed to hear their case on Tuesday, Greenberg’s mother, Sandee Greenberg, told Fox News Digital. The court will examine whether the parents, as executors of her estate, have legal standing to challenge the medical examiner’s findings.

Last year, a panel of appellate court judges ruled against the parents’ request to force the Philadelphia medical examiner to reclassify Greenberg’s death from suicide to homicide or undetermined. The panel found that the parents lacked standing.

But the judges also slammed the city, police and the medical examiner’s office for the investigation.

The report explains that Greenberg was discovered dead in her kitchen in January 2011 with 20 stab wounds, including 10 from behind. Court documents say at least one of the stab wounds may have been inflicted after she was already dead.

In addition to the stab wounds, Greenberg’s body was also covered in bruises in different stages of healing.

In the kitchen where Greenberg was found, a half-made fruit salad was still on the counter, and there were signs of a struggle, including a knife block that had been knocked over. In addition, evidence showed the door lock had been tampered with, her body had been moved.

Shockingly, Joe Podraza, a lawyer representing the family, said the knife found at the scene had never been fingerprinted.

After all that, the medical examiner mysteriously reversed course. The report explains:

After Greenberg’s death, a forensic pathologist with the city medical examiner’s office named Dr. Marlon Osbourne ruled it a homicide, according to court documents. Then he reversed course after meeting with police behind closed doors and dubbed it officially a suicide.

Greenberg’s parent insist this was a murder cover-up.

Many are pointing back to former Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, who is now the governor of the state and the expected pick to be Kamala Harris’ running mate.  Shapiro had backed the theory that the case was a suicide.

Below are excerpts from a CBS News report in February 2022:

Eyewitness News has exclusively learned the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office has finished reviewing the mysterious death of Ellen Greenberg, a Philadelphia school teacher who was found stabbed nearly 20 times in 2011. The office reaffirmed that her death was a suicide.

The AG’s Office previously reviewed the case in 2019 and had determined the death was a suicide.

The file of Ellen Greenberg is being closed by the office of Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, according to a letter sent to the attorney of Greenberg’s parents. The letter shows the AG’s Office still supports suicide as the manner of death after it reviewed the case again, between December 2021 and January of this year.

“I’m completely disgusted,” Sandra Greenberg, Ellen’s mother, said.

“These people disappointed me,” Josh Greenberg, Ellen’s father, said.
