SHOCKER: Registered NYC Democrats were asked: Who’s your pick for mayor in 2025 — the results are overwhelming

From the New York Post: Ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo would handily win a ranked-choice Democratic primary election for mayor, a new poll projected — as embattled incumbent Eric Adams trailed the pack.

Cuomo dominated the field of likely opponents in a ranked-choice election — even though he hasn’t officially jumped into the race for City Hall, according to the poll, conducted by Democratic activist group Progressive Democrats of America.

Some 32% of those polled picked Cuomo as their favorite candidate, with former city Comptroller Scott Stringer trailing far behind with 10%, followed by city Comptroller Brad Lander at 8% and Queens state Sen. Jessica Ramos at 7%.

Adams was the top choice of only 6% of those polled, tying him with Assemblymember Zohran Mandani.

Whitney Tilson, a Democrat who has announced his campaign for NYC mayor, stressed in a CNN interview what Cuomo would NOT be a good mayor for New York City.

Below is Tilson’s campaign video, just posted Monday morning:

Curtis Silwa, a former NYC mayoral candidate, reacted:

New York City will never elect Cuomo as Mayor. As Governor, he “push(ed) to “transform” mental health in New York by getting rid of psychiatric hospital beds that he said New York didn’t need.” (from Stephen Eide with NY Post 10/19/22).

Cuomo pushed thousands of mentally ill patients out of psychiatric hospitals as Governor. He forced thousands of mentally ill people to be left homeless on the streets, suffering and freezing. Cuomo preferred mentally ill people get incarcerated, then released back in our streets.

Cold hearted Cuomo disturbingly took away medical care from those in desperate need of mental health care. We’ll never forget that.
