Here is a collection of stories happening across the country, displaying the state of the economy, the heartbeat of American culture, and the craziness of modern-day politics…

1) Republican senators divided over Trump sticking with Vance

From The Hill: Republican lawmakers are divided over whether Donald Trump should ditch his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), who has become a magnet for controversy and negative press coverage since Trump tapped him for the role earlier this month.

Some Republican senators think Trump should have picked a woman or a person of color to help broaden his appeal beyond his hardcore base of supporters.

Several wondered if Trump ignored his professional political advisers and listened instead to his son, Donald Trump Jr., and conservative media celebrity Tucker Carlson in picking Vance.

Others, however, are defending the pick, saying Vance can help Republicans in key swing states in the Midwest. And Trump has stood behind his running mate.

2) Black male voters have surprising reaction during MSNBC roundtable when asked about community Trump support

From Fox News: A group of Black voters told MSNBC that they each personally know of at least one Black man that is committed to voting for former President Trump over Kamala Harris in November. MSNBC legal analyst Charles Coleman conducted a roundtable discussion with four Black male voters ranging in age about the upcoming presidential election and how having Harris as the presumptive Democratic nominee has affected their vote in a network special that aired over the weekend.

“How many of you know a Black man who has expressed to you that they’re committed to voting for Donald Trump?” Coleman asked in the MSNBC special, “Black Men in America: The Road to 2024” that aired Sunday on “Velshi.”

All four men raised their hands“For the brothers who have told that to you, has the emergence of Kamala Harris changed that?” he asked.

“No,” they replied unanimously.

One respondent said his friend was voting for Trump because of the “stimulus checks.” Another said the Black men he knew that support the former president are doing so because they’re concerned about “interest rates.” They believe “Trump is going to lower the rates.” The sentiment among that group is, “I just need that guy in there,” he told Coleman.

3) WATCH: Jeff Bridges, Sean Astin, Adam Schiff Join Star-Studded ‘White Dudes for Harris’ Fundraiser

From Breitbart: The Big Lebowski star Jeff Bridges, Lord of the Rings star Sean Astin, and Mark Hamill of Star Wars fame were among the many famous faces — along with left-wing lawmakers like Adam Schiff (D-CA) — who joined a virtual “White Dudes of Harris” event Monday night. It was the latest of such events hosted in an all-out effort to raise funds for Vice President Kamala Harris in her bid for the White House.

“I got to laugh because I accepted the invitation,” Bridges said on the call. “I was brought to the party, not so much as being white, and I certainly am, but because I’m a dude. So, a friend sent me this e-mail today with your hat on there, and I said, ‘Oh, I got to have one of those, I qualify.’ I’m white, I’m a dude, and I’m for Harris.”

4) Democrats had feared Georgia was a lost cause with Biden running. Harris will campaign there Tuesday

From Breitbart: Little more than a week ago, Georgia appeared to be slipping out of the Democrats’ reach: President Joe Biden’s campaign pledged to concentrate more on holding the Midwestern “blue wall” states and indicated they might be willing to forsake “Sun Belt” battlegrounds.

But now that Biden has bowed out of the race and Vice President Kamala Harris is the likely nominee, Democrats say they have new hope for the state. They’re betting that a fresh burst of energy and a surge in fundraising has helped make Georgia — the state that delivered Biden his narrowest victory margin in 2020 — a toss-up again.

Harris is planning to make a show of political force with a rally in Atlanta on Tuesday night that will feature a performance by hip hop star Megan Thee Stallion, the latest example of just how much the race against Republican Donald Trump has shifted since Biden abandoned his reelection bid. She will be appearing in the same city where Biden’s dismal performance in a debate against Trump on June 27 sparked a Democratic revolt that ultimately ended his campaign.

5) Regulations cost families $15,000, Biden-Harris swamp plans more

From Washington Examiner: Regulations imposed by federal agencies under the Biden-Harris administration cost households at least $15,000 a year and the nation $2.1 trillion, a “swamp” tax that is more than families spend on food, clothing, and education, according to a new report.

As bad as those costs seem, they are likely much higher because the administration changed transparency rules after coming into office, hiding the impact of some regulations, according to the Competitive Enterprise Institute’s annual report on the federal regulatory state, Ten Thousand Commandments.

His report is eagerly anticipated by supporters of cutting red tape because it gives an accurate picture of the costs of federal rules and shows how federal bureaucrats have taken over the job of Congress, which is supposed to write regulations.

6) Credit counseling demand surges in 2024, with these states hardest-hit

From Fox Business: Credit counselors reported a significant surge in demand for financial counseling services so far this year, warning that the trend signals an increase in financial distress among U.S. consumers.

Credit counseling nonprofit Money Management International (MMI) recently released data from its mid-year analysis, which found a 52% rise in new clients in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year – with new clients carrying average unsecured debt of $28,000, an increase of 9% from 2023.

7) Journalist At Olympics Suspended For Saying John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ Is A ‘Vision Of Communism’

From Daily Wire: Polish journalist and sports commentator Przemyslaw Babiarz has been suspended from the Paris Olympics after labeling John Lennon’s “Imagine” a “vision of communism.”

During the 2024 Olympics, the famed song — written by the late Beatle — was sung by French singer Juliette Armanet at the opening ceremony that took place on the Seine River in Paris on Friday. While it was playing, the Polish state broadcaster said on air, “This is a vision of communism, unfortunately.”

The comments immediately triggered a reaction for those watching in Poland, ABC News reported. The public broadcaster Babiarz works for in Warsaw, TVP, later issued a statement that made it clear the well known commentator would not be commenting on air from Paris about any more from the summer Olympic games.

8) Ukraine’s Olympic chief celebrates limited Russian presence at Paris Olympics

From Breitbart: The head of Ukraine’s Olympic delegation touted the limited numbers of Russian athletes at the Paris Olympics — who must compete as neutrals — as war between the two countries grinds on for a third year.

Vadym Guttsait told The Associated Press in an interview that Ukraine began the effort to reduce the number of Russian and Belarusian athletes after the Kremlin’s forces invaded Ukraine in 2022 and have kept pressing it nearly until the start of the Games in Paris. Belarus is a key ally of Moscow’s.

9) Brazilian Skateboarder Rayssa Leal Defies Olympic Secularism Rules, Quotes Bible Verse After Winning Bronze

From Breitbart: Brazilian skateboarder Rayssa Leal won a bronze medal in the street skateboarding event on Sunday. In contrast to the Satanic opening ceremony, she quoted the Bible after her big win.

Leal, a 16-year-old Christian, proudly quoted John 14:6 when she won her bronze medal, the Christian Post reported.

10) Kevin Costner’s Passion Project ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ Pulled From Most Theaters Amid Massive Flop

From Daily Caller: The first installment of Kevin Costner’s passion project “Horizon: An American Saga” is being pulled from theaters in late July after becoming one of the year’s biggest flops.

Things just keep getting worse for Costner, who bet his reputation and more than $30 million of his own money on his movie franchise “Horizon” being successful. Not only did the first chapter of the four-part saga utterly flop at the box office, but it is going down in history as one of the first major film franchises to go to the modern-day version of video: streaming.

The movie opened on June 28 and is already being pulled from most theaters, according to Forbes. “Horizon” finishes up its run at No. 10 in the box office, after failing to compete with summer blockbusters like “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
