Rudy Giuliani has settled Dominion Voting Systems’ $1.3 billion lawsuit over claims and concerns about the outcome of the 2020 election.
Court filings show both sides agreed to dismiss all claims against the former New York City mayor with prejudice, ending the case. Dominion’s lawyers said in Friday’s filing that both sides will cover their own legal fees and costs. The settlement terms, including any payment amount, remain undisclosed.
Dominion sued Giuliani in early 2021, accusing him of repeatedly making false claims that the company rigged the 2020 election through vote manipulation and fraud.
“Notably, although Dominion machines were used in Pennsylvania in the 2020 election, the Trump Campaign’s complaint did not include any allegations about Dominion,” the company’s lawyers said in the lawsuit in January 2021.
Earlier this month, a New York judge ordered Giuliani to pay $1.36 million plus interest to his former defense firm for unpaid legal bills.
In January, he settled a $148 million defamation case with two Georgia election workers, though terms were undisclosed. Dominion likewise secured a $787 million settlement from Fox News in April 2023 over its coverage of Trump’s false voter fraud claims.
