Democrat Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania released a statement Monday evening, making it clear he is not among the Democrats who are calling the Los Angeles riots “peaceful.”
Fetterman posted a photo taken on Sunday, as the rioters vandalized and then set fire to at least 5 WayMo self-driving vehicles.
Multiple Democrats, including Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton, have released statements voicing support for the rioters and claiming they were peaceful.
But Fetterman wrote in a post on X Monday evening, “I unapologetically stand for free speech, peaceful demonstrations, and immigration—but this is not that. This is anarchy and true chaos.”
“My party loses the moral high ground when we refuse to condemn setting cars on fire, destroying buildings, and assaulting law enforcement,” he added.
As of late Monday night, the post already had over 4 million views.
