The list of House Democrats calling for Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race is growing fast, with the number now up to 14.
Amid the chaos, Biden is scheduled to hold a news conference Thursday evening. This will be Biden’s first formal solo news conference since November 2023.
The Associated Press reports: President Joe Biden will hold a news conference at 6:30 p.m. ET Thursday, the key event in a monumental week for his campaign as he fends off calls for him to step aside as the party’s presumptive nominee. His candidacy is still under question as the first Senate Democrat, Peter Welch of Vermont, and over a dozen House Democrats have publicly called for Biden to end his campaign.

Who put George Clooney up to calling for Biden to drop out?
Actor George Clooney published an op-ed in the New York Times Wednesday morning, calling for Biden to drop out of the race and allow Democrats to choose a new nominee, saying Biden is no longer “the Joe Biden of 2020.” Clooney had just hosted a $28 million fundraiser for Biden three weeks ago.
Speculation is growing that someone – most are assuming former president Barack Obama – put Clooney up to publishing the op-ed.
Conservative commentator Mark Levin wrote, “No doubt in my mind that Barack Obama is the invisible hand behind much of the effort to drop Biden and promote Harris. He’s too much of an egomaniac to sit it out.”
