Robert F. Kennedy Jr., President Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services, sat through two senate confirmation hearings this week, and was repeatedly attacked by Democrats, who insist he is unqualified for the position.
Multiple Democrat senators have accused Kennedy of trying to profit from the pharmaceutical industry.
However, it has been noted that many of the same Democrats attacking Kennedy are taking money from the pharmaceutical industry themselves. For some, they are allegedly raking in a LOT of money.
Prominent X user and Substack writer @MidwesternDoc posted a list of the top Democrats and the amount of money they have allegedly received from Big Pharma.
The list was obtained from data provided by OpenSecrets.org, and reflects totals of money received between 1990 – 2024.
- Bernie Sanders – $1,953,613
- Raphael Warnock – $1,763,425
- Elizabeth Warren – $1,224,145
- Ron Wyden – $1,207,873
- Michael Bennet – $730,106
- Catherine Cortez Masto – $537,781
- Maggie Hassan – $476,999
- Ben Ray Lujan – $375,652
- Sheldon Whitehouse – $351,361
- Maria Cantwell – $338,134
- Tina Smith – $226,444
- Peter Welch – $176,917
The hostility @RobertKennedyJr experienced at his hearing was directly proportional to how much Pharma money each Senator received. In fact, each of them simply repeated the same attacks we just saw flood the mass media (all of which were blatant lies). 🧵 pic.twitter.com/ND7jqU4B1F

While @MidwesternDoc was focusing on the Democrat senators currently attacking RFK Jr., below are more prominent politicians on the same OpenSecrets.org list. These are the top recipients and total fund received from pharmaceutical companies from 1990-2024:
- Kamala Harris – $11,341,349
- Joe Biden – $9,128,291
- Barack Obama – $6,041,678
- Hillary Clinton – $4,622,654
- Mitt Romney – $3,378614
- Bob Casey – $2,063,304
- Mitch McConnell – $2,027,732
In the same thread, @MidwesternDoc exposed more hypocrisy of a number of Democrats:
For example, they (and the senators) kept claiming RFK caused a deadly measles outbreak. In truth, it was due to children being killed by the vaccine, nurses covering it up, and the Samoan government banning it, and until recently no one blamed RFK.https://t.co/MywGMeFs7Z

Similarly, during the hearings, the Democrats not only attacked him for being too Pro-life, but also tried to paint him as supporting abortion, climate change and Medicare for all to pressure Republicans not to confirm him. I have never seen something like this in my lifetime.

Senator Warner relentlessly attacked RFK for 17 minutes with each of the industry talking points. As it happens @MarkWarner got $654,210 from Big Pharma. pic.twitter.com/J65NOM7wrh

At RFK’s hearing @SenWarren relentless attacked RFK and accused him of endangering America by “selfishly” making it possible to sue vaccine manufactures for producing injurious products. This is insane, until you remember she’s the #2 pharmaceutical money recipient in the Senate pic.twitter.com/ojjnTpyoME

During RFK’s hearings @SenatorHassan made a series of baseless and hysterical accusations, and like her colleagues focused on tried to brand RFK as pro-choice so Republicans would not confirm him. It turns out she’s already received $467,999 from the pharmaceutical industry. pic.twitter.com/Bs14VdIo4D

It thus should come as no surprise all of these sold out Senators concluded RFK was not fit to run the HSS—even though they received immense pushback from their constituents and donors. pic.twitter.com/OnLNq0wLZf

That said, while most of this was immensely frustrating to watch, @BernieSanders inadvertently had one of the funniest moments in Congressional history when he became enraged RFK would not denounce antivax onsies. Turns out Sanders got $1,953,613 from Pharma. pic.twitter.com/QiK3YsYhuw

Given all of this, it should not at all surprise you that the Senators who have gotten the most money from the pharmaceutical industry were also the Democrats who recently pushed some of the most abhorrent medical policies in history. pic.twitter.com/lQgRxgYpTL
