President Donald Trump lambasted Al Sharpton in a post on Truth Social Sunday evening, and posted an old photo of Sharpton from years ago when he was about twice the size he is now.
Sharpton, 71, a civil rights activist and MSNBC talk show host, used to be on friendly terms with Trump, before Trump ever ran for political office. After Trump won the Oval Office, Sharpton has become a fierce critic.
Sunday evening, Sharpton had Democrat Sen. Richard Blumenthal (CT) on his show, and the two went on a Trump-bashing rampage, first slamming the president for his speech at the U.S. Navy birthday celebration, and then for sending National Guard troops to Portland, Oregon.

In a scathing Truth Social post, President Trump blasted Sharpton and threw out a reminder about a scandal Sharpton was involved in back in 1987, regarding Tawana Brawley, a 15-year-old who fabricated a story of rape allegations. Sharpton reportedly joined others in pushing the false allegations against a man, and they were later sued for defamation.
Trump’s statement reads:
I knew Al Sharpton for many years, not that it matters, but he was a major “TRUMP” fan. He’d ask me to go to his fake Rallies all the time, because I brought BIG Crowds, and he couldn’t get anybody to come without me.
Then he did the Tawana Brawley Hoax, one of the worst Low Level Scams in History, and that set him back, BIG TIME!
Then he got to know Brian Roberts, Chairman of Fake News NBC, who gave him what would become one of the Lowest Rated Shows in Television History. Roberts is afraid to take him off because it wouldn’t be “Politically Correct.”
This is just one of the many reasons that the Federal Communications Commission should look into the license of NBC, which shows almost exclusively positive Democrat content. Likewise, ABC Fake News — About the same thing, 97% negative to Republicans!
