From Fox News: More than 2,000 people packed into an auditorium at the University of Minnesota for the first Turning Point USA event in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, a report said.

The stop for the “This is the Turning Point” tour, which came after Kirk was shot and killed at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, was hosted by conservative commentator and author Michael Knowles, according to MPR News.

“Charlie accomplished more in his 31 years than most people could accomplish in many lifetimes,” Knowles said in his opening remarks. “His most public accomplishments were political. His most important were religious. He wanted to be remembered for his faith.”

Knowles later took questions from audience members on topics including women’s suffrage and media bias, MPR News reported. Turning Point USA posted a video on X of attendees chanting “Charlie! Charlie!”

TPUSA Director Chris Gaffrey posted an emotional video as the entire crowd joined in singing, “God Bless the USA.”

“This is The Turning Point Tour kicks off tonight at @UMNews, the first since Charlie Kirk’s assassination and it began with the entire crowd standing together, hand over heart, singing God Bless the USA. 🇺🇸,” Gaffrey wrote.

“It was powerful. It was patriotic. It was a reminder that this movement is alive and stronger than ever. These people LOVE Charlie Kirk. These people LOVE America. And we will NEVER stop fighting for this country. 🔥”

Charlie Kirk had been excited to launch his “The American Comeback Tour,” which began on September 10 at Utah Valley University.  The event had just started and Kirk was answering the second question when he was shot and killed by alleged assassin Tyler Robinson.

The tour has now been renamed, “This is the Turning Point,” and TPUSA has vowed the tour will go on as scheduled. The next stop is planned for Wednesday night at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, where Gov. Glenn Youngkin and podcast host Megyn Kelly will be among the speakers.

TPUSA posted one video of a heartbreaking moment from the Minnesota event, which shows an empty chair draped with a “freedom” shirt, a white hat and a microphone.  It was the chair Charlie Kirk was supposed to occupy.

Speaking to Fox & Friends Tuesday morning, Knowles said the event was packed with 2,700 people, and over 1,000 more outside were not able to get in.
