From Breitbart: A woke Vermont school district hoisted a Somali flag on Friday, as Democrats around the country defend Somali migrants amid President Trump’s immigration crackdown and a growing fraud scandal in Minnesota’s Somali community.
“We are raising the Somali flag this week in honor of our Somali youth and families in Winooski and Vermont,” the Winooski School District posted to Facebook. “On Monday, we will be gathering to celebrate together and to learn more about our civil rights.”
The Winooski School District told OutKick the Somali flag was raised on one of its three flagpoles. The American flag is on the highest mast, in accordance with the United States Flag Code, and the Vermont state flag is on the second mast, the district said. The Somali flag was raised on the third mast, which the district said is “for affinity groups.”
In a follow-up post, the school district added the following ‘clarification’:
First, we want to assure our community that the United States flag remains in its proper place at the highest point, in full accordance with the U.S. Flag Code. The Winooski School District has three flag masts: the U.S. flag on the top mast, the Vermont state flag on the second, and—this week—the Somali flag on the third.
The Somali flag is being flown for one week as a gesture of support for our Somali students and families. Winooski is a proudly diverse community, and we are committed to recognizing and uplifting all of the cultures that make our district stronger.
Mysteriously the school’s website now appears to be down, and has been replaced with a “temporary” landing page which features the following message:
“We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is currently removed from public view. This interruption is necessary as we address and mitigate an unprecedented volume of illegitimate traffic targeting our services.”
Conservative podcaster Benny Johnson quipped, “Winooski School District in Vermont has put up a Somali flag in protest to President Trump and as a message that all Somalis are welcome in the state. I’ve got a suggestion for ICE’s next stop.”
