From Fox News: President Donald Trump appears to have his eye on a new gig after being back in the Oval Office for just over 100 days.

On Friday, the president posted an AI-generated image of himself as the pope on Truth Social, and it has gone viral. Less than a week prior to the post, Trump was in Rome attending the funeral for the late Pope Francis. As the Vatican searches for a new pontiff, it seems Trump is jokingly throwing his hat in the ring.

The post was met with a wide range of reactions—from some who found it funny to others who said it was offensive.

Townhall columnist Dustan Grage dismissed critics, saying that most of those he saw complaining about the post were atheists and that their opinions didn’t matter.”

“The loudest people who have been mad about this photo in my feed are atheists. So yeah, your opinion doesn’t really matter. Memes depicting Trump as Christ have been and always will be called out as blasphemy. The Pope picture is actually funny. Calm down, folks,” Grage wrote.

Another person pushed back, writing, “Wow- guess what? I’m not atheist, I’m not Catholic, I did attend Catholic schools my entire life- with that said this is an abomination of the Catholic religion- full stop!”

Former RNC Chairman Michael Steele, who is firmly anti-Trump, had a meltdown over the image.

Steele wrote, “During this period of Novemdiales (mourning the loss of Pope Francis) I’ll set this offense aside because Trump in his narcissism gets off on our being offended. More to the point, this affirms how unserious and incapable he is. At 78 he remains a 10yo child, emotionally scarred and broken while desperate to prove he could be somebody. His problem: he can’t grow up to prove it.”

Democrat activist Harry Sisson also can’t take a joke. He wrote, “Trump just posted an AI image of himself as the Pope. Instead of working to bring down costs, he’s doing this instead. Nice job, MAGA! You elected a man-child.”

X user ‘Jocular Josh’ wrote jokingly, “EXPECTED NEWS: Federal Judge Wormwood has issued an order preventing President Trump from becoming the Pope; uncle admonishes lack of subtlety.”

One supporter appeared to be taking it seriously.

X user ‘Sassafrass84’ wrote, “Trump as pope is hilarious. So many are triggered over this. Calm down folks. He is just trolling.”

Conservative comedian Terrence Williams wrote, “Pope Trump… Lol our President just posted this. He’s trolling because he knows the media is going to flip out. Love it. Actually I love the sound of King Trump, the first of his name.”

Trump supporter Vince Langman wrote, “Watching the crazy left completely melting down today over this Pope post by President Trump is the best birthday present ever! 👏😂.”
