Former President Donald Trump, the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, returned to hold a rally at Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, where he narrowly survived an assassination attempt just 12 weeks earlier.

On July 13, 2024 at 6:11 pm ET, as Trump was speaking at his first rally in Butler, gunshots rang out, from a 20-year-old would-be assassin perched on a nearby rooftop.  Trump was shot in the ear, and three other attendees were also shot.  One attendee, Corey Comperatore, a former firefighter, was killed as he shielded his family while bullets whizzed overhead.

Saturday’s rally was a moving tribute to Comperatore, as well as a profound display of the never-quit spirit of the entire Make America Great Again movement.

Several significant highlights from the day deserve special recognition. A massive crowd, which some have estimated to be as much as 100,000 people, showed up to attend the rally.

TRUMP FORCE ONCE FLIES OVER THE CROWD

As Trump was arriving in Pennsylvania, his plane flew over the rally site and tipped its wing at the massive crowd below:

In a video taken from the ground, the crowd is heard wildly cheering as Trump Force One flies overhead.

TRIBUTE TO FALLEN FIREFIGHTER COREY COMPERATORE

Trump aide Dan Scavino posted a video of Trump stepping off Trump Force One and embracing the widow and daughters of firefighter Cory Comperatore, who was killed at the July 13 rally.

In one special moment, artist Scott LoBaido created a moving tribute to Comperatore:

Podcast host Benny Johnson shared a touching photo of himself embracing the Comperatore family at the rally and wrote, “Praying with Corey Comperatore’s family. Real tears here. And healing. God Bless them 👊🏼🇺🇸.”

A tribute was set up for Comperatore in the stands, where he was seated when he was killed on July 13.

Caitlyn Jenner wrote, “Nobody will break the American spirit! Today is a solemn day in Butler Pennsylvania. We all remember Corey and lift up his family. He saved them, as bullets flew, and he was shot. This senseless political violence, aimed at Pres Trump, has no place in America.”

TRUMP PAYS TRIBUTE TO COMPERATORE AT RALLY

Trump gave special recognition to Comperatore and the other victims from the July 13 shooting, and then held a moment of silence beginning at 6:11 pm ET., the very time when the shooting had occurred.

The moment of silence was accompanied by bells tolling, and a performance of “Ava Maria” by opera singer Christopher Macchio.

Trump started off his rally with a reference to his previously-interrupted speech on July 13.

“As I was saying…” he quipped.

CROWD SINGS NATIONAL ANTHEM – THIS WILL GIVE YOU CHILLS

Many attendees to Saturday’s rally, especially those in the front, had been waiting in line for at least 12 hours. At one point during Trump’s speech, a woman in the crowd needed medical attention. Trump stopped his speech and waited for the woman to be attended to.

While they were waiting, the crowd broke out singing the National Anthem.  WATCH BELOW:

Trump campaign advisor Tim Murtaugh reacted, writing, “This rally in Butler, PA is one of the most remarkable live political events in American history, there is no doubt.”

JUST LOOK AT THAT CROWD

NBC News reporter Jake Traylor announced in a social media post, “Not sure total crowd size but it might be largest I’ve ever seen. Most folks I spoke with in the crowd said Trump is here to finish what he started.”

MORE NOTABLE MENTIONS….

A statue of Trump has been set up at the rally:

Counter snipers were seen standing guard on the roof.

Someone flew over the rally site with a large American flag:

Ahead of the rally, Dr. Ben Carson, Trump’s former HUD Director, wrote on social media, “Philippians 4:13: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” We are praying for @realdonaldtrump and his family today as he returns to Butler, PA. What a sobering, yet inspirational day for our country. 🙏🇺🇸”
