Republicans are mocking Democratic congresswomen after they announced they will be wearing pink to President Donald Trump’s address to a Joint Session of Congress Tuesday night. The Democrats claim the pink is a protest against Trump, to show they support women’s rights.

This comes just one day after Senate Democrats voted unanimously against the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which would have banned biological men from playing in women’s sports.

President Trump has called for an END to men playing in women’s sports, in order to protect women and girls.

From Fox News: Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández, D-N.M., told Time on Tuesday that dozens of her Democrat colleagues will show up to Capitol Hill to wear pink for Trump’s speech to “signal our protest of Trump’s policies which are negatively impacting women and families.”

“Pink is a color of power and protest,” Fernández told the outlet. “It’s time to rev up the opposition and come at Trump loud and clear.”

The Democratic Women’s Caucus touted, “DWC Reproductive Health Care Task Force Co-Chair & Liaison @RepJudyChu wears pink to stand up for the women & families that will be devastated by the Republican budget. As Rep. Chu said, we will make sure every woman’s voice is heard all the way to Capitol Hill.””

Rep. Judy Chu (D-Calif.) declared, “I’m wearing pink tonight w/ @RepTeresaLF &
@DemWomenCaucus at Trump’s Address to Congress. Pink is a color of protest & power. We’re sending a message: Trump’s policies are devastating women. He’s raising grocery prices, he’s stealing health care, & he’s threatening our safety.”

Rep. Norma Torres (D-Calif.) announced:

We’re powerful, passionate, and pissed off. PINK isn’t just a color—it’s a symbol of protest. A symbol of women’s power and persistence. The truth is: Women can’t afford Trump.

❌ We can’t afford skyrocketing prices.
❌ We can’t afford attacks on our health care.
❌ We can’t afford the discrimination and abuse peddled by his administration.

We’re fighting back. And we’re not backing down.

The pink stunt is receiving widespread mockery from conservatives.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) blasted the hypocrisy of the Democrats, as he responded to the TIME article and wrote, “When you see Democrats wearing pink for the TV cameras tonight, remember that 45 of them voted for men to invade women’s sports just yesterday. It’s all an act.”

The Trump War Room also pounced on the stunt, writing, “You can’t make this up: House Dems are outside the Capitol accusing Trump of betraying women—less than 24 hours after their colleagues in the Senate unanimously voted to let men compete in women’s sports.”

Conservative host Tomi Lahren mocked, “So Democrats- who repeatedly fail and REFUSE to protect women’s sports and spaces- are gonna wear pink tonight to protest Trump and stand for female empowerment? Oh, ok. Makes sense. L O FREAKIN’ L.”

Doug Billings, host of “The Right Side,” wrote, “Democrats live in Kookville. Female Democrats will be wearing pink tonight in an effort to protest President Trump’s agenda — claiming he hurt’s women’s opportunities. All whilst coming off a fresh vote where ALL democrats voted to allow men/boys to compete in women’s/girl’s sports. Democrats are the enemy of real women.”

Daily Caller investigator Meg Brock mocked, “Democrats have a chance to make history tonight. If Democrat men all wear pink and yell “I’m a woman,” they’ll be the first political party to have 100% female representation in congress. According to Democrats, that’s all takes to be a real woman! Make history girls!”
