FBI Director Kash Patel has pledged full transparency in the ongoing investigation into the July 2024 assassination attempt on President Trump.
In an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, Patel emphasized the public’s right to know the details of the case, stating, “I don’t know that there’s more to know, but you’re going to know everything we know.”
The attempt occurred during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump was shot in the ear by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who fired from a nearby rooftop. The attack resulted in the death of one attendee, Corey Comperatore, and injuries to two others before Crooks was killed by a Secret Service sniper.
Despite extensive investigations, the motive behind Crooks’ actions remains unclear. Authorities have found no evidence linking him to any terrorist organizations or broader conspiracies. Patel has assured the public that the FBI is committed to uncovering all aspects of the incident.
The incident has prompted bipartisan concern over security protocols at political events. Congress has established a commission to examine the circumstances surrounding the attack and to recommend measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
As the investigation continues, Patel’s commitment to transparency aims to restore public trust and ensure accountability. The FBI’s findings are expected to be shared with the public as they become available.
