FROM DAILY MAIL: Disney World fans have been left heartbroken after a longstanding landmark of over 35 years was demolished overnight.
The Hollywood Studios’ archway has been towering over the park since it first opened as MGM Studios in 1989.
Throughout all the changes that the park has endured – including when it went from MGM to Hollywood Studios in 2008 – the archway has stood tall.
Guests were surprised Saturday when they found that the structure had disappeared overnight.
Some fans called the change the “end of an era.”
“With the loss of the archway, yet another piece of the Studios aspect of the park is no more,” wrote one user.
“This type of decision is making Disney’s Hollywood Studios more unrecognizable. Disrespectful,” another griped.
Buy other users were supportive.
”That was quick. Hopefully we’re moving in the right direction for the park,” one hopeful user said.
