REWRITING MISTAKES: Kamala Harris reveals regret with Netanyahu, praises Mamdani & says a ‘marble bust’ will be made in her honor

Former Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris says she regrets that the Biden administration did not exert more pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the Gaza war.

In a New York Times interview, Harris said that one key misstep was the Biden administration’s failure — including her own — to apply more pressure on Netanyahu over how he was conducting the Gaza war “as it related to innocent Palestinians.”

She also praised New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, despite criticism of his sharply anti-Israel positions. She called Mamdani after his victory, offering advice on hiring staff and serving as an executive.

“I do not think he’s a scary face for the Democratic Party,” she says, commending the excitement the 34-year-old socialist generated from younger voters.

She also phoned moderate Democratic governors-elect Abigail Spanberger in Virginia and Mikie Sherrill in New Jersey to congratulate them on their wins. In total, Harris made more than 40 congratulatory calls after the election — reaching out to new state senators in Mississippi, city council members in South Carolina, and even a school board trustee in Idaho.

Harris also told NYT that her place in history is already secure, claiming: “There will be a marble bust of me in Congress. I am a historic figure like any vice president of the United States ever was.”
