A prayer vigil was held for former President Donald Trump ahead of his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, months after the assassination attempt by Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Attendees were heard praying for Trump’s safety and protection and for families, friends, and community. The crowd also recited the “Saint Michael the Archangel Prayer” during the vigil.

One could be heard saying, “We come together and ask for continued and increased protection in the upcoming hours, days, and weeks. We ask for the safety and protection of family, friends, neighbors, and community. We ask for protection for President Trump, for our country, for the staff, and for all who will come to gather here. These are dangerous times, but we trust you, and you alone.”

The woman who suggested the group recite the “Saint Michael, the Archangel Prayer” mentioned that Trump had recently shared the prayer in a post on Truth Social a few days earlier.

The prayer vigil before Trump’s second rally in Butler again follows the assassination attempt by Crooks, who opened fire from a nearby rooftop back in July, injuring Trump with a bullet that grazed the top of his right ear. Crooks was killed with returned gunfire from a police sniper, but Corey Comperatore, a former fire chief, was killed by Crooks’ attack while protecting his family. Two others, James Cophenhaver and David Dutch, were injured in the attack.
