From Fox News: The World Economic Forum (WEF) on Monday withdrew an invitation for Iran’s foreign minister to attend the Davos summit in Switzerland after an advocacy group urged it to bar Iranian regime officials amid nationwide anti-government protests that have left thousands dead.
In a post on X, the WEF confirmed that Abbas Araghchi would not be permitted to attend the five-day event.
“Although he was invited last fall, the tragic loss of lives of civilians in Iran over the past few weeks means that it is not right for the Iranian government to be represented at Davos this year,” the organization said.
The announcement comes after the advocacy group United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) sent a letter to WEF President Børge Brende on Friday, urging him to rescind the invitation and bar Iranian regime officials from attending amid a brutal crackdown on civilians.
The Iranian Foreign Minister will not be attending Davos.

UANI policy director Jason Brodsky responded, “We @UANI warned @wef of the risks in inviting #Iran’s regime’s foreign minister to Davos this year. His presence would be a slap in the face of the brave people of #Iran. We’re pleased to see WEF disinvite him in response to our letter. This is the right decision.”

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush had also called for the WEC to rescind the invitation to Iran’s regime’s Foreign Minister Araghchi to speak in Davos this week, saying “It’s an insult to the brave Iranians who have been fighting to reclaim their country from the Ayatollah and his tyranny.”
As @UANI requests in this letter, @WEF should rescind this invitation to Iran’s regime’s Foreign Minister Araghchi to speak in Davos this week. It’s an insult to the brave Iranians who have been fighting to reclaim their country from the Ayatollah and his tyranny.…

.@UANI commends @wef for making the right decision in disinviting @Araghchi. #Iran‘s regime’s record of crimes against humanity at home and terrorism abroad should make its representatives persona non-grata in Europe and the United States.https://t.co/FqxayTYKCL
