From Fox News: The Arizona Cardinals have apologized to a woman who was told she had to remove a “Make America Great Again” hat in order to enter State Farm Stadium for the team’s game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
The team confirmed it has reached out to the woman in a statement to Fox News Digital on Wednesday.
“In an isolated incident at Sunday’s game, a stadium security member misunderstood a policy on prohibited items. Like most venues, ‘signage, posters, flags, or displays that are….political in nature’ are not permitted. However, that did not apply in this instance. Moving forward we will work to provide clarity to all stadium personnel in these situations. We have also reached out to the individual involved to communicate that their experience was not consistent with our policies and practices and to apologize for that,” the statement read.
The woman, an Arizona native and Cardinals season ticket holder, was named Susan Rosener. She and her husband were on their way to their seats to see the Cardinals’ surprising 41-10 win over the Rams, before a stadium staffer mistakenly told her to take off her hat baring the famous slogan of former President Trump’s election campaign, according to multiple reports.
The security worker at the State Farm Stadium, in Glendale, AZ, reportedly told Rosener that ‘no political hats or shirts’ were allowed.
However, according to a list of prohibited items, political attire is NOT banned, unless it would fall into the category deemed “obscene or indecent in a public setting” or “any item deemed inappropriate or hazardous by stadium security.”
Turning Point Action Field Rep Alyssa Goncales shared the story in a social media post Monday:
A friend of friend went to the @AZCardinals game yesterday in her very tasteful black Make America Great Again hat. As she goes to enter the stadium a female security guard proceeds to stop her and tell her she can’t enter the stadium with her hat.
The security guard then proceeded to get very confrontational and told her she wasn’t going to be allowed to go in no matter if she took it off or not. The only way she was allowed in was if the security guard watched her throw her hat in the trash!
Disgusting! There is nothing on their website stating that she can’t wear something like this in the stadium. Is it seriously offensive for a hat to say that we want to make America great? That’s insane! So what happened @AZCardinals? Why was this allowed?!
Unfortunately this is the sad truth of the America we live in. Vote for the party of sanity and let’s Make America Sane Again!

12News reported on the incident, and interviewed Rosener. Watch below:
Arizona Cardinals security made a woman throw away her MAGA hat in order to get into the stadium on Sunday…
The Cardinals were quick to backtrack on this and apologize… because they know what an NFL boycott does for their business…
She shouldn’t have complied. pic.twitter.com/Xzkv5JgR2o
