From Fox News: A Venezuelan migrant is accused of sexually assaulting the 14-year-old daughter of his employer in Colorado while living in the basement of his home, police and reports say.
Jesus Alberto Pereira Castillo had crossed into the U.S. illegally in El Paso, Texas in September 2023 before being released by the Border Patrol, Homeland Security sources told the New York Post. He was taken into custody in Denver on Tuesday.
The arrest in Denver followed a recent interview with the city’s mayor Mike Johnston, who predicted a “Tiananmen Square moment” if federal immigration officials move to enforce President-elect Donald Trump’s pledged mass deportations.
“More than us having DPD [Denver Police Department officers] stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there,” Johnston told the website Denverite. “It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right? You’d have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.”
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department posted the following announcement, without ever acknowledging that Castillo is an illegal alien from Venezuela:
Jefferson County, CO. – On November 19, 2024, the JCSO arrested Jesus Alberto Pereira Castillo – (DOB 040504) for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.
On August 29, 2024, at about 11:00 p.m., deputies responded to a south Jefferson County residence on a sexual assault investigation. Castillo’s employer owns the residence, and Castillo was temporarily staying in the basement of the home. At around 10:30 that evening, Castillo forced himself on the 14-year-old daughter of the homeowner, sexually assaulting her. He left the residence before deputies arrived.
After many weeks of relentless investigative work, JCSO investigators were able to locate Castillo in Denver, CO., and placed him in custody without incident. He is being held in the Jefferson County Detention Facility and will have his first court appearance on November 20, 2024.
The charges are merely legal allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent of the charges against them unless and until they are proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

According to the New York Post, Castillo crossed the border illegally into El Paso, Texas, in September 2023 and was released by Border Patrol agents because there was no room to detain him any longer.
Castillo originally said he was planning to go to Orlando after he crossed the border, but instead he ended up in Colorado.
In May, while still in Colorado, Castillo was arrested for allegedly possessing tools for forgery/counterfeiting and larceny. Clearly, he had been freed after that arrest, and was then hired by a Denver man who allowed him to live in his own basement.
Since the sexual assault of the 14-year-old girl, Castillo is now being held in jail by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and ICE has lodged a detainer against him.
The local ABC News station in Denver is being blasted for referring to Castillo as a “Jefferson County man” who was staying with his boss, instead of reporting the truth – that he was a Venezuelan who crossed the border illegally.
Absolutely ridiculous reporting by ABC affiliate @DenverChannel. They describe this as a “Jefferson County man” who was staying with his boss. Nowhere in the story did they mention he was a Venezuelan who crossed the border illegally.https://t.co/3ni8J5516w

Meanwhile, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston has defiantly released the following statement about President-elect Donald Trump’s plan to deport illegal aliens:
“In Denver we respect the law and enforce it without fear or favor across every inch of our city. If Donald Trump tries to break the law and abuse his power, he will get no help from us. Denver is proud to be a welcoming city, and we will do everything in our power to protect those who live here. We are considering a number of options to strengthen protections for all our residents, and we continue to provide education about the rights of our immigrant community so they can best protect themselves from any unlawful actions.”
