From the Washington ExaminerThe Department of Veterans Affairs announced Monday that it would no longer cover the costs of gender dysphoria treatment for veterans.

The decision fell in line with President Donald Trump’s Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government executive order, which says there are only two genders: male and female.

“These sexes are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality,” the executive order says.

The VA offered gender dysphoria treatment for a decade. It never covered gender reassignment surgeries, but it provided treatment for cross-sex hormone therapy and gender-affirming prosthetics such as breast forms, chest binders, and dilator sets for post-vaginoplasty.

Sharing a link to a press release, VA Secretary Doug Collins announced, “VA is phasing out treatment for gender dysphoria. All savings from this change will go toward helping paralyzed Veterans and amputees. I mean no disrespect to anyone, but if Veterans want to attempt to change their sex, they can do so on their own dime.”

Sam Shoemate, a retired U.S. Army intelligence officer, responded, “VA treatment is only for injuries sustained during service. Since military service never caused their dysphoria, it should have never been covered by the VA in the first place.”

Elon Musk reacted with two US flags.
