REPORT: Trump weighs in on Idaho students killer Bryan Kohberger’s plea deal

President Donald Trump posted a statement on Truth Social Monday afternoon, addressing the plea deal that prosecutors worked out for Bryan Kohberger, the man charged with killing four young college students in Idaho in 2022.

Earlier this month, Kohberger, just before his jury trial was about to start, Kohberger confessed to all four murders. In exchange, he has avoided a potential death penalty, and is now expected to spend the rest of his life in prison with no chance of parole.

Kohberger is scheduled to be formally sentenced on Wednesday, July 23.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote:

Bryan Kohberger, who was responsible, in Idaho, for the deaths of four wonderful young souls, has made a plea bargain deal in order to avoid the Death Penalty. These were vicious murders, with so many questions left unanswered. While Life Imprisonment is tough, it’s certainly better than receiving the Death Penalty but, before Sentencing, I hope the Judge makes Kohberger, at a minimum, explain why he did these horrible murders.

There are no explanations, there is no NOTHING. People were shocked that he was able to plea bargain, but the Judge should make him explain what happened. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Another Truth Social user, @SurfORFireMgr, reacted to Trump’s post, writing, “THANK YOU @realDonaldTrump🙏! One of those incredible young ladies was my niece. We have been waiting to hear from you sir. We really appreciate your genuine heart felt words, but we need actual closure from fully transparent justice. So many unanswered questions. Please sir, keep these innocent young victims and the family members in you’re prayers. Thank you for your attention to this matter 🫡🇺🇸🙏❤️.”
