From The Hill: Former President Trump will hold a rare California rally Saturday, speaking in a deep blue state less than four weeks before Election Day.
Trump will hold a rally in Coachella, a city in Riverside County in Southern California. The former president is expected to highlight rising costs in Vice President Harris’s home state.
While Trump has ventured to California in the past for fundraisers and press conferences, including as recently as last month, the Saturday event will mark the rare instance of a rally with supporters in the Golden State.
California is not expected to be competitive in the presidential race, and Trump has not been active in the the state’s U.S. Senate race, where Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is facing off against Republican Steve Garvey.
The Trump campaign announced the upcoming rally in a press release on Monday, which reads as follows:
President Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America, will deliver remarks at a rally in Coachella, California on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 5:00PM PDT.
Under Kamala Harris and her dangerous Democrat allies like Tim Walz, the notorious “California Dream” has turned into a nightmare for everyday Americans. Since Harris and Biden took office, prices have skyrocketed by nearly 20 percent, leaving Californians grappling with crushing costs. Families are struggling to stay afloat, with the average California household losing more than $33,232 since January 2021. Californians are suffocating under rising prices for everything from groceries to housing, thanks to Kamalanomics.
The median sales price of a home in California has surged by 23 percent under Harris’ watch, pricing out middle-class California families. In cities like San Diego, where the average home now exceeds $1 million, the dream of homeownership has become a cruel joke. Los Angeles is not far behind in entering the seven-digit price range, as working families are forced to either pay exorbitant prices or leave the state altogether. These backward policies are what Democrats like Harris and Walz consider to be “progress.”
And let’s not forget the surging gas prices squeezing Californians at the pump. Residents are paying $4.66 per gallon on average, with 2022 gas prices setting new record highs thanks to the Green New Scam policies of Harris, Biden, and Newsom. California also boasts the second-highest unemployment rate in the nation, further proof that Democrats like Harris are driving the state into the ground.
This is the future Harris and Walz want for the rest of America—crippling inflation, unaffordable housing, and sky-high gas prices. If this is the California Dream, it’s every American’s worst nightmare. President Trump is the only candidate who can reverse the damage done by Comrade Kamala, and it’s why Americans will elect him the 47th President of the United States this November.

Meanwhile, Coachella Mayor Steven Hernandez is not exactly rolling out the red carpet for Trump, and released a snide statement on social media slamming the news of his upcoming visit.
“The City of Coachella was proud to welcome Senator Bernie Sanders during the 2020 primary election, but news of former President Trump’s upcoming visit has been met very differently,” Hernandez claimed. “Trump’s attacks on immigrants, women, the LQBTQ community and the most vulnerable among us don’t align with the values of our community.”
“He has consistently expressed disdain for the type of diversity that helps define Coachella. We don’t know why Trump is visiting near Coachella, but we know he wasn’t invited by the people who live here. He ain’t like us,” he sneered.
After posting his hateful message, refusing to welcome Trump to his town, the mayor then posted another snarling, ironic message.
“The values of the compassionate and hard working residents of the Coachella Valley don’t align with the vitriol and division of Trump. Let’s all join together in community on Saturday and rally against hate,” he wrote.
While some on the left are praising Hernandez for standing up against Trump, a number of others commenting on his posts are raking him over the coals. Here’s a sampling of their comments:
Roberto: Oh I see, Rally against “hate” by showing hate… 🤔….. People are not allowed to support who they want to support. Damn lol …
Sergio: You just lost a lot of votes for opening your mouth.
Leslie: Regardless if you are Democrat, we live in a free country with freedom of speech. Any politician has a right to have a rally and as mayor, you should remain neutral. Coachella is not 100% blue anymore, demographics are changing if you haven’t noticed.
Roxanne: So your saying because he may have opposing views to your own personal beliefs that you would not welcome the opportunity to engage in peaceful conversation with him? Your personal bias should be set aside sir. His beliefs are illegal persons from any where, yes includes Mexico should not be here unless they use the legal avenues as per our United States laws. I guarantee you if you went to any other country illegally you would be sent back to your homeland or some will even charge you and lock you up…Sir as a representative of the city in which you serve, you owe it to all your constituents to always have an open mind to opposing views and find common ground. To show respect is the first step for compromise and thus moving forward.
Tammi: You do not speak for every Coachella valley resident. Nice way to divide the valley. And you call yourself a leader? 🙄
Roberto: This is exactly why I’m voting for Trump. Demz Always having to pull out the race card, don’t you have anything new to say? Why are you trying to divide the people? You must live in your own little world because a lot of us from Coachella are voting for Trump2024❤️.
Kathy: As a mayor you represent all of your residents. I hope the rest of the city council will remind you of that fact.
Mark: Agree or disagree, city leaders should be Bipartisan! Lead by example and represent our great city of Coachella honorably!
Lilly: Yikes 😳 Lost my Vote, I wondered who was implementing Dinner with the LGBT community in my children’s school district. This explains it all.
Kisha: Makes me want go even more now!
Bianca: For being an elected official, you should be ashamed of yourself. You are coming off as VERY unprofessional. Speak for your damn self. I suppose you think Kamala is going to do a better job? What a joke! Instead of carrying yourself in a professional manner and being welcoming of President Trump you put your city to shame. You don’t speak for the rest of us. Trump never said anything about immigrants. It was the ILLEGAL ones he spoke on. This is who the people voted for? Get this dude out of office!
